I seriously doubt that Russias defense will be able to withstand Canada, and if the D struggle to transition the puck it will be hard for Russias offensive stars to score.

Crazier things has happened but I doubt Russia wins this.

Us Candian are probably the most easy going people in the world.
But when it comes to hockey...we deserve to be cocky

Even US fans are not so cocky when Olympic basketball is in question and they have many more reasons for this. Literally, every single Canadian fans in here is 100% sure they are going to win.

I've posted in here and haven't made any predictions. I know never to underestimate Russia.

Russia is Canadas biggest rival, they can never be looked past. The Canadian team will not look past them either and respects what they can bring.
 
This team Russia is different. There is no useless hype around them, no nationalistic talks etc. They look they are focused on hockey. They seem to be more ready than in last 16 years.

Thats why all the people, who are aware of this, know, that all that canadian comments bashing WHC whenever Canada was eliminated were just hidden hate. My former colleague from Home Hardware stoped talking to me for one day after Canada meaningless loss to Czechs in 2010 WHC, constatly mumbling something like "****ing Vokoun", "Who cares, its not best on best" :)

I see Canada winning solely because of the massive difference in quality of the D of the two teams. Russia is vulnerable if the are pressured non stop, we just didn't get to see that much as Finland was a mess and the Swedes mostly just defended the entire game. Only NA played with pace and attacked and the Russians were certainly in big trouble because of that.
 
1% chance russia beats canada. That 1% is if Bobrovsky channels an inner Hasek and has 49 saves. Canada is too good

I want russia to win but dont see it

So far Russia has only won one game against Canada in best on best tournaments. Canada will win but it won't be a 6-0 type of game.

Did we even play Russia in 2004 World Cup? Guess we must have in round robin...But I don't remember that game...Recall we beat Czechs in semis in OT and Finns in finals...Russia was an also ran in that tourney...

In the same way Russia can win against Canada, yes. I'd give sweden a better chance than russia just based on the strong defense, goaltending and a more than capable offense.

But Canada are clear favourites against any team.
 
So stoked. Never thought I'd even half enjoy this tournament but it's been fun and I can't wait for this one.

The Sid vs Geno thing is fun as a Pens fan too. Hope and think Canada wins but hope it's not a blow out, sucks seeing Malkin (and Ovie tbh) sad when Russia loses.
 
As a North American, I hope Russia wins. It will make our loss sting a little less.

But as a Canadian, I hope we destroy those Russians!

I'm so conflicted.
 
I hope Russia wins, rooting for the underdog. If Russia can get past Canada, I think they will beat whoever comes out of the Sweden-Europe semi-final.

I don't think there will be any problem for Canada to get mentally and emotionally prepared. Canada always gets up for Russia no matter the circumstance.

Yeah, they can. Though probably not twice - but their defence can handle Canadian pressure, Sweden will not be exhausting itself running after the puck all the time. They have looked rather phlegmatic in the round robin but they will step up in the finals. Though, of course, they are not in the finals yet...
