World Cup: Canada-Russia semifinal pre game talk

I hope so. D has been our Achilles heel for quite some time now. I hope that the young prospects will develop well.

No, I haven't watched much of Paigin. If he wants to improve his game, he should come to the NHL. The more talented players we have the better. We might never have enough talent to field two (or three) teams like Canada can, but we should have the resources to have one good team that could challenge the best of the best.

Yeah, D have been the problem for a number of years. I see it improving, Provorov and Sergachev are excellent young D men.

Paigin definitely should come to the NHL, my team drafted him (Oilers). Get over here, he has the opportunity to come play with Connor McDavid. We're looking forward to him, hopefully he comes over soon.

Canada still havent won against a good team in this tournament and as it seems. Russia, sweden and NA are tye only teams that can play hockey this tournament beside canada.

Let's be honest here, Canada will beat Russia there's no doubt with that.
Who ever thinks Canada might lose, you either dont watch hockey oftenly or you are just lying to yourself.

I'm afraid that this will get ugly but I'm hoping for at least a close exciting game.

Honestly, I don't believe we stand a chance against Canada... Still, if Canada is destined to lose at this tournament it may only happen against our team. Canada is good and executing all the things extremely well but they are somewhat "academic" in the way they play. The problem is to find that second gear that we have time after time against Canada.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't bet against Canada winning. Hope though...
 
Just put a piece of plexiglass behind Bob. It's the only hope. Unless Ovechkin turns into Neymar for that game.
 
With Datsyuk injured an Malkin playing like trash, I don't think we stand a chance. If Bobrovsky has another great game, the score can be close though.

Things like this is the reason why I cannot root for Canada in "neutral" games (althoug I really like how team Canada plays the game). Even US fans are not so cocky when Olympic basketball is in question and they have many more reasons for this. Literally, every single Canadian fans in here is 100% sure they are going to win.

In every other area of life, Canadians are humble and the nicest people. We would help out anyone and treat everyone kindly.

Hockey is a weird part of our psyche, we are completely different people when it comes to hockey.

I know I sounded super cocky and I apologize if I offended anyone.
But I'm not gonna try to pretend like this is a 50/50 game. That's just like China saying other countries are big threads to them in a ping pong tournament. (In the recent Olympic Woman Ping pong tournament. Before the semi final, the Chinese management group praised the Japanese player a lot, and then China annihilated Japan like smashing a bug.)
It sounds fake and it makes me feel disgust.
 
Well, I hope there would be an upset, but I think it's rather unlikely: modern Canada is so clinical and deadly efficient that Russia would really have to find 2-3 extra gears, not just one.
 
Honestly Russia has turned into a paper tiger in my mind due to recent results but this is hockey, anything can happen.
I say Canada 4-2.

Makes me wish NA was still in.

Never 100% sure.
But it's pretty high.
Canada has the depth like no other country and we are missing some stars in this tournament.
 
I hope Team Canada has more respect for their opponents than some of our fans do.

Nobody gave Team USA a chance of beating the Soviets in 1980 and yet...

And this Russian team is a lot closer to TC than the US was to the Soviets.

What i mean is that i dont think Canada are prepared that this game will be a lot different than the three they already played. None of the team canada as been up against are nearly good as the three teama in other group. Canada will continue play the game they have played, but they will not be prepared for the huge change of much harder opponent.
This kind of changing from 3 very easy games to a hard one can be surprising and disturb canadas gameplay. And if russia having a good gameday this can end up in a loss for canada.

In final they are certainly up against sweden, if canada wins semi they certainly need a good hard game from russia so canada are wellprepared for a final.

In all seriousness, it'll be a decisive Canadian victory. They'll destroy Russia and then steamroll whichever team they meet in the finals.

I just hope that one day Babcock gets bored of winning and they have to replace him as a coach of team Canada. Before that other teams won't have a chance.

Can't disagree more.
This Canadian team not only have the best roster in the world, they also operate like a machine under the best management group. There's no way that they won't be prepare for the changes.
Yes, they've only played three easy games so far. But those games are easy only because Canada is too good.
If Canada & Russia switches group, will you still say that Russia only played three easy games? No
Unless Price suddenly plays like Taskala, I don't see how this Canadian can loose.

All of the above is true.

The only break Russia got was only having to face Canada ONCE, as opposed having to get embarrassed twice in the best two out of three final.
