This team got exactly what they deserved. Carbon copy of the WJC. Completely incomptent management regarding player selection, bad luck with injuries to key defensemen, bad goaltending and horrific coaching that refuses to many any adjustments when things aren't working. f*** this team. Hope the Finns knock them out on Monday.

The problem is he made adjustments. It’s just the adjustments were putting his useless plug Lightning players on the ice in key offensive situations. Let me put Point with Crosby and McDavid. f***ing brilliant.

Time to put Doughty out to pasture. I know that statement may not age well once he gets more games under his belt this year, but I'm sure there were way better options all things considered. Bobbling and losing the puck on that one chance Mackinnon finally did something felt like an opportunity we couldn't afford to lose.

I think we need to accept from a HC standpoint that we can no longer consistently win these tourneys by building teams through a mould like we had in the past. We’re seeing a return of it; and we had success moving away from it, we need to move to the best players period.

Tough game, I think Canada had the slight edge in play but Hellebuyck made the difference both with his puck handling and his goaltending. If they play again in the final Canada needs more either controlled possession entries by creating depth in attack (lot of one man versus the world) or cross corner dumps that Hellebuyck can’t cut off. Defense held up relatively well without Makar, MacKinnon needs to start penetrating the middle of the ice on in zone opportunities…. Will be difficult but if they have to play again they can win

Canada simply isn't so much better than the rest of the world that they have the luxury to dick around with player selection anymore. The rest of the world has caught up. Pick your best players. It's simple. Cirelli is a joke. Bennett, a joke. Hagel, joke.

Hope Makar gets healthy for the finals. Canada had the better chances but their goalie broke them.

Whoever decided to leave Logan Thompson off Team Canada, needs to be fired, and never work with a Canadian team again.

Whoever thinks Logan Thompson (or any goalie) was going to shutout this stacked USA team is kidding themselves.

Canada’s offense looks like shit. They had a good 1st period in both games and then looked very pedestrian after that.

Gonna have to score more than 1 goal to win.

The expected goals were 2.461 for Canada vs 0.834 for the US after they scored their second goal to make it 2-1. Canada should have scored more and the US should have scored less. Allowing double the goals on 1/3rd of the scoring chances and allowing the US to just trap and clog the neutral zone the rest of the game gives the US a huge advantage. We need a goalie to make the saves they're supposed to, that's it. Binnington hasn't done that either game.

Having said that, bump Marner to the 4 line and PK - I'm also okay if he rides the bench. Marner's not doing anything and we need some size/grit with McDavid.

Maybe I'm giving management too much credit but I wonder if Hyman and Schiefele would have been chosen if the teams didn't have to be named so early for some reason. Hyman in particular was ice cold until the roster was named basically.

No real excuse for the D and G picks though.

Canada now plays a European style of hockey and the Americans play how Canada use to play. We're soft. I've never seen a Canadian team get manhandled the way they did tonight. Sad to see but we will see how the rest of the tourney goes.

As an Avs fan, very happy Cale didn't play today.

The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if Canada didn't sit him on purpose. Regardless of whether they won or loss this game, they were still gonna have to win against Finland to get in. So todays game didn't really matter for them.

Cale not playing allowed Harley to be fully integrated into the team now instead of having to play the silly rules game they were doing up to that point. Additionally, kept their most important player out of a game that had the potential for nastiness which I also wonder if the Canadians had an inkling or an idea was gonna happen before the game as well since all those fights were clearly staged.

Binnington made multiple good saves in both games to keep Canada in it. A couple of his goals allowed have been questionable but he’s still done his job if the Canada offense would show up.

Again, expecting to win after scoring only 1 goal against the U.S. is laughable.

The US scored 2 goals and won the game..and the only reason they scored 2 was bad goaltending.

Fun fact: You can win with 1 goal despite people seemingly unaware of it.

What do you mean "bench" Marner? He almost played 20 mins. He did nothing.
