Cooper says after the game he thought Canada played extremely well and managed the puck great.

So why was it a 4-3 game (excluding ENG)?

I'd like to publicly thank (sarcastically) Jordan Binnington to play the best game of his life against my favorite team in game 7 of the 2019 cup finals.

I would also like to tell him to frig off for being mediocre ever since.

I would retract the second statement to a degree if he plays the way he did in 2019 against the States in the final.

The line combos finally make sense, so no surprise we got better games from Point and Reinhart. Thought the Marchand/Bennett/Konecny line was really solid. I think all lines were in the 14-18 minute range which is fine for a game such as this. Id like to see that bottom-6 ice time tilted a bit more towards Bennett in the final game, as his line handily outplayed the Cirelli line.

Makar being back on the ice makes such a huge difference. Aside from Makar, the D is solid if unremarkable.

I wouldn’t expect any lineup changes for Thursday.

Obviously the goaltending will be the biggest factor between winning and losing on Thursday. Should be a great game.

...Doughty & Parako were both meh at best and worrisome far too often...Cirelli SHOULDN'T BE THERE...and HasBeenington was HasBennington...Cooper needs to get his f**kin' head out of his prideful arse and sit Cirelli and Binnington at least, if not one of Doughty/Parako for Harley...

agree on Cirelli, Doughty or Parako are not coming out of a potential CAN VS USA rough and tumble game...I do think Harley should play though...

Really?

Doughty has been terrific. Parayko has been very good.

If Cooper keeps the current line config’s (which he should), removing Cirelli in favour of Jarvis would leave us a centre short. I have no problem with dressing Cirelli, but should be 10 minutes or under. He’s good on the PK so we may need him in that capacity.

Did I miss where Harley is able to play? I thought he could only play if one of our D was injured or ill (and we can’t healthy scratch one of our D to dress Harley). Has that changed?

I thought Doughty was our best D in the U.S. game; him or Morrissey. He’s a big game player, there’s no chance in hell Cooper scratches him on Thursday.

...then we're watching two different games...Doughty has been fumbling pucks and far too slow...Parako treats the puck like a live grenade; just throwing it anywhere and everywhere; reminds me of a righty Ben Chiarot this tournament...they both worry me anytime the puck gets anywhere near them...

We will have to agree to disagree. I like Parayko for his size.

Crosby and MacKinnon are on the same line though. They shouldn’t do another line shuffle before the final U.S. game, nor do I think Cooper will.

You don't give Parayko enough credit - nor do you give him enough "y's". :)

The final. Goaltending will continue to be most critically important, given both squads get their chances.

If the Americans do not pursue a fighting strategy, they will be giving the Canadians an advantage. They come out ok fighting.

Canada's lineup? On dee, or forward? Barely matters. As does the US's...players have to be ready for the challenge and the pace and the everything, and I expect thay all will be. Unpredictable one-one-one encounters will determine what happens.

I think the Canadians have shown themselves to be a bit more ready for the challenge, whereas the US crushes them in goalkeeping and somewhat has a physical play advantage?

Undoubtedly, it is going to be a game worth watching!

Why did I keep hearing people on the broadcast say this was Binningtons best game?
Because they said it, and you listened? And they have to fill the airtime with relevant material? I wouldn't put much stock in it, no matter which broadcaster is saying it, and it matters almost nothing given the format. Canada is going forward with Binnington, and Canada hopes he'll be adequate+ and the US is happy to see him between the pipes so far. But there's a reason why goalies win the Conn Smythe way more than they win the Hart.

The lines finally look good leave them be. Like McDavid and Point on line one. MacKinnon and Crosby on line two have good chemistry. Like Marchand Bennett Koneckny as well as Marner with the Lightning guys.

The defencemen have all been solid. No one has stood out in a bad way. Doughty has played better than most would have expected and was excellent in the second game. Parayko is doing what he is supposed to do. Harley was a pleasant surprise, Sanheim has been good, Toews looked solid even when Makar was out, Morrissey has further established that he is Canada's second best defenceman. No complaints there. Other than Dave Lowry wishing that Canada could send Hicketts out over Sanheim and Ducharme wishing for Bean over Makar people should be content with the defence.

Outside of Goal in 3 on 3 goal with all that extra room, Marner has been absolutely invisible. One of the reasons the Leafs struggle so much in the playoffs is because he needs to be a top player in those games and he just rarely ever is. Come at me all you want but it’s true. He’s not built for this.

yes you could scratch marner as the Forward for sure and against the USA it is likely a good idea
