Too soon after him playing terribly at this tournament last year.

yeah, I'm not eager for Kuemper coming back even though he's had a somewhat decent year in a crappy division.

and since we can rule out Price ever giving up 3 weeks of rodeo and agree to stepping up for once, I'm fine with Hart and Blackwood dueling it out for #1 starter. If Pitt gets bounced, then fingers are crossed for those 2 + Murray coming into to be #1. That's probably the best we can hope for.

Price is a bit of a disappointment concerning willingness to come to the skodas isn't he? It wouldn't hurt him to accept an invite here and there I don't think.

Any one of Hart, Blackwood or Murray would be a big win. I'm interested in seeing if Hart is inclined to play international hockey with any regularity.

has there been any rumors about a coach yet? there are plenty good candidates out there already. don't have to wait until the season ends.
Coach Q or
Vigneault.

Not that I've heard. My main source for these matters is Bear12Good. I wouldn't mind McLellan getting another shot.

Well, there aren't many from the Prague Powerhouse team that I would give a thumbs down to, expect maybe for Brayden Schenn. but if he wants to give up his roster spot for Sid one more time and sit up in the pressbox, I'll give that scenario a thumbs up.

Barring Canada actually having access to its top defencemen, one guy I'd like to see get an invite is Josh Manson. A dual citizen but came up primarily in Canada, strong defensive player and sufficient skater. He's never played internationally but I'd like to see how he does in a third pairing type role.

I got my heart set on a Murray Spurgeon 3rd. pairing...which would mean we got a pretty good Top 4.

as for Manson, I liked him more last year, but really haven't watched much of Anaheim this year.

if it's something like Sanheim Manson 3rd pairing, then that's what it's going to be.

Complete guesses from the Oilers with zero basis

1) McDavid: My money would be on him declining. Its been an exhausting year for him in Edmonton. But he loves hockey and he is Connor McDavid so anything is possible.
2) RNH: imo he likely goes, moreso if its a strong team where he can medal
3) Nurse: He goes, guy is a competitor

Botterill, Francis, and Hextall will be the GMs for the team.

Not particularly fussy about Botterill, but his influence on the team shouldn't extend any further than Reinhart. possibly Montour. haven't seen any of his games since the move to the QEW Sabres. I hope we are in better shape with the d-corps come May 10. He was on my worthy of an invite list last year. but that was last year.

good to see another '98 deliver the hatty last night. I'm not advocating for half the team to be made of '98s, and even if he's off to the AHL playoffs to end the season, I doubt San Diego will last long. 2 or 3 '98s on the team would be okay. Steel, Batherson and Makar.

With Canada playing in kosice I can see a lot of players saying no to invites. Not that big of a city and not a lot to do there.

Well, if they go deep as they are generally expected to, they'll eventually end up in Bratislava. Two cities for the price of one trip! ;)

I'm hoping HC is more cognizant that there will be a couple of good players that will say yes after round one exits, and to hold some spots for them, as they have started to do the past couple of years.

I doubt that pretty much any of the Canadian players know enough about Slovakia to have an idea of which cities are attractive and which aren't.

All Hockey Canada has to do is compile a list of prospective players now and start spamming the girlfriends/wives with links to tourist destinations, note "Venice Italy is a 3 hour flight from Kosice"

so, when the "pack your bags, Honey we're off to Europe" convo happens the girls are already in the loop.

As a Wings fan, I am intrigued to see who out of AA, Mantha and Bertuzzi end up being asked, and who ends up going. All 3 are under contract for next year, and they are all playing good hockey right now and are healthy.

Alain Vigneault will be coach per Dreger.

They will announce the full staff next week.

Yes please to Athanasiou and Mantha, at least depending on what the upper level players say. Mantha is the player I would most like to see from Detroit.

Interesting. Certainly an experienced coach, but I believe that he has never been head coach of Canada and has only been an assistant twice, at the WJC in 1989 and 1991.

I'm pleased with the Vigneault selection.

You know he's motivated. Now all he needs are about 23 motivated hockey players.

With another NHL season almost in the books (4-5) remaining and players starting to dread the good 'ol Skodas invites, this would be my 25 man roster if we were about to play an Olympics:

Stamkos McDavid MacKinnon
Marchand Crosby Bergeron
O'Reilly Tavares Marner
Giroux Towes Scheifele
Couturier Point

Giordano T.J. Brodie
Rielly Doughty
Chabot Burns
Pietrangelo/Ellis

Fleury
Price
Holtby

IR: Hall (would have had him w/McDavid - MacKinnon line.

keeping Gio/Brodie together just because I like it. It's a shame Giordano will be done in a few years having never really played a real A team tournament.

not making the cut Benn/Seguin. difficult choices, but can't have everybody. but very easily could be a line of Benn Tavares Seguin.

also Vlasic/Subban lose their spots. hopefully they bounce back and are in the running if we approach a NHL Olympics. esp. Vlasic.

Pretty stacked team still with a lot of youngsters making their A team debut.
It would take one hell of a M.A. Fleury World Junior brainfart for this team to lose.

Who among these hot 25 will answer the invite to Slovakia in May? 3-7 players. I'm hoping it's closer to 7 than 3. but we shall soon find out.
