So now that Russia’s been banned by IOC, retaliation by KHL would potentially make the following players ineligible for the men's Olympic roster...

Wolski
Frattin
Beck
Garbutt
O'Dell
Kozun
Vey
Brule
Ellison
Parenteau
Talbot
Purcell
Klinkhammer
Stollery
Genoway
Lee
Despres
Robinson
Scrivens
Edit:
Howden
Blacker
Kinrade

So, maybe men's Olympic team is Canada's WJC roster +/- a couple and WJC is used as a primer for the Olympics? What a mess.

What a mess indeed! The saddest part would be that all these guys must have been so stoked to finally have a chance to live out the Olympic dream, only to have it snatched away at the last minute. Though nothing's official about a KHL boycott... yet.

Big shame if Canada decide to drop some players because they want some CHL guys for Olympics. OG hockey next february is worthless now if you ask me. It was already after NHL decision. Even WJC is more important this year so i hope we see best possible teams.

Indeed, the Olympic tournament lost all value when the NHL pulled out. The KHL presumably not being involved is basically just watering down a glass of water. If Canada weakens its WJC team for this it will be a joke. Friedman is the main guy I've seen talking about the possibility, an he said that the CHL wanted it to be an either or situation. Individual players would be in either the WJC or the Olympics.

Wednesday seems to be taking on an unnatural and meaningful significance to me right now.

Just what does this Russian ruling mean to our team?

I'll be pissed off, the WJC has been the best international competition for ages and no I don't feel that way just because just because Canada won a lot.

It features garunteed kick ass games no matter who you cheer for.

A weaker Canada means a more boring tournament. Love or hate us you have to love what we bring to the table.

I Agree 100% with your picks on defense, but I would like to see Pierre-Olivier Joseph gets an invitation tomorrow. The blue line is quite packed right now but he's a strong candidate to make a push IMO.

To me, Owen Tippett is a lock up front and I would be very surprised if he's not making the team. Michael McLeod and Owen Tippett on the same line.. it could be very dangerous, I think.

To be honest, I do not think that Maxime Comtois have a legitimate chance of making it over guys like Cody Glass.

What about Brett Howden guys? He was cut last year, but does he has a chance this year? I'm not the biggest fan of Gadjovich but I think he has a great chance of making the team.

I heard both will be camp invites.

They very easily could be but I figure that what 15/16 forwards will be invited.. I can think of 15/16 forwards that I’d rather see there easily.

However, the coaching staff knows what kind of roles they’re looking for guys to fill and what kind of players they want. Ang and Comtois easily could be those types of guys but I’d rather see some other guys there.

Steenbergen, I could see Ang, Formenton or Philipps taking a spot here though

Cholowski

Could pick Hague over Stanley and Mahura over Cholowski

Hart
DiPietro
Ferguson

Who knows about third goalie? They all suck, why not pick the guy who's played in the NHL?

If you think all the options for 3rd goalie suck then you really haven’t educated yourself on the guys available. There’s quite a few good goalies available if Canada wanted to take a 3rd goalie.

Who other than Point who might not be able to play for Canada?

Point was always eligible to play for Canada. Seeing that he wasn't invited to the American camp, I am assuming that he predictably was not eligible to play for USA for the same reason that Walman wasn't.

So his mother is American or what?

He is in the AHL right now correct? I really can't see why he wouldn't be sent.

No, he played last night against Buffalo and he was on a line with Kerfoot and Compher against the Devils last friday. He's playing +/- 15 minutes per game since mid-october.

Maybe it could be an opportunity for him to be a leader on the offensive end and play big minutes for Team Canada but I do think Colorado need him even if his offensive stats are not especially good actually. I think he was injured early in the season too, maybe he needs some time to be a better offensive weapon for Colorado.

I don't think that they're gonna loan D Samuel Girard to Team Canada and I will be surprise to see them loan Tyson Jost too, but we'll see!

This insider on Twitter is usually right in terms of rumors involving the canucks.

Heard last night all of them making it as well.

No Pu, Tippett, all D are 98's. Pretty much all of the invited roster was big part of scouts talk last night in Kitch.

We'll see how accurate the info from last night was soon enough.
