Anyone else feel that Scheifele has shown enough to prove he deserves to stay with the club?

I thought he looked better as the game went on and was arguably our best forward at the end. Hopefully he can keep it up in the next few games. The question is where does he play if he does make it. Swapping spots with Wellwood makes the most sense, but he'd still be playing out of position.

I actually thought Jokinen was pretty good tonight. No chemistry between he and Kane but give it time.

Little created quite a bit as well, but Wheeler and Ladd were nonexistent.

Pavelec may have not been 'bad' but Anderson showed several times how a good starting goalie can help a team through rough patches in the game to get the ship righted. It's not like the Sens D was great tonight either, but the difference was Anderson bailed them out, Pavelec did not.

The guys looked gassed. I am hoping to see vast improvement from this team.

In order:

Bad positioning (common problem related with Pav's since his youth)

Neil shouldn't have been served a poor rebound but I'd share the blame with Stuart's lack of proper decision making there

Bad Pizza's, AKA giveaways, happen to all teams, but we have a history of allowing more of ours in the net (including last season) percentage wise than 29 teams

My point wasn't Pav's was the only problem or fault... just that if he is going to be the goalie he's paid for (a far above average starter) he's going to have to stop a lot of those that aren't "his fault"

Sounds like you're in for the next game kid. Strap on the pads! :)

Ultimately he has to go on the sheltered scoring line if he stays here... Noel doesn't do power vs power so we'd need:

Ladd - Little -Wheeler
Kane - Scheifele/Jokinen - Jokinen/Scheifele
Ponikarovsky - Burmistrov - Antropov
Wright - Slater - Wellwood

or

Ladd - Little - Wheeler
Kane - Scheifele/Jokinen - Wellwood
Burmistrov - Scheifele/Jokinen - Antropov
Ponikarovsky - Slater - Thorburn/Machacek

What a disappointing game. It was sure worth the wait. Not.

Pavs let in brutal goals, and Anderson stood on his head in the 1st 2 periods. The Jets folded in the 3rd but this was definitley sparked by their goaltender outplaying ours.

Agreed but I'd like to see where he's at in a couple more games. What I noticed that was a positive is that his weaknesses weren't really holding him back today. I found he was able to keep up speed wise and that he was able to shield the puck well at times and he won a number of board battles as well.

Noel was pretty happy with his game in his post game presser said took advantage of his oppertunities to play up so he might have bought himself a look on the Kane line next game.

I also think he may improve on his strength and balance more in Winnipeg were the Jets training staff can work with him on a daly basis. He may not get the same level of training if he's back in Barrie.

The Jets once again did not play the full 60 minutes. They only played one period of hockey. Their best player on the ice was Buff. Mark should be sent back to barrie. He still is weak on the puck. I couldn't keep up with how many times he fell down or was knocked off the puck tonight. I was also disappointed with Pavs tonight.

Hopefully they play better against the Bruins or we will be getting the Draft Lotto this year.

IMO Pavs only let in one bad goal, the first one. Other then that none of those goals were a problem.

What would you like him to do? Postma handed the puck away on the first goal, 2 others were deflected and we scored one goal. would you like him to score some goals for us too?

I would have liked him to stop soft goals.

Yeas ther were turnovers. Just because a scoring chance comes from a turnover doesn't give a goalie a free pass.

In the modern NHL a lot of shots are tipped and a lot of them need to be saved,

The only Sens goal in the game that Pav's had no chance on was Karlsson's.

Pavs wasn't the sole reason they lost the game but he was not good, he was not even average.

As i said in the Scheifele Thread. His only real weakness is the balance, every other aspect of his game looks pretty good to me. There will be rookiemistakes here and there, but that's part of the learning progress. If Scheifele stays with the Jets, he needs the spot on the right wing of Jokinen and Kane. The only bad thing is Wellwood, because he's way too limited. He just can't play on the checking line to reach his full potential.

Don't turn the puck over and there won't be a bad goal. What do you think Noel is more concerned with the guys turning pucks over constantly or the goalie?

Pavs was better than 90% of the the rest of the Jets and it's not even close. He was not the reason the Jets lost today.

I don't know... I still think Pavelec was sub-par...
He wasn't terrible but just like last year; he wasn't playoff material...

Pavelic is an average goalie at best. Never understood how some people feel he's a superstar. His play overseas didn't instil any confidence that he'd be any better this season

I don't remember Pavelec making any really notable saves in that games.

That is the way hockey works. Other players can have off nights. The goalie can't.

But I guess he was better than 90% of the Jets players..... In the press box.

I guess some of us will just have to disagree on that one a lot...

I think it's bad when even the Jets' nhl.com writer is mentioning that Pavelec let in softies and he wasn't impressed

.

Im not sold on him yet. He did ok today but honestly nothing really stood out for me besides he has good hockey sense/positioning but he needs help on his balance, skating and physical develpment still. Looked like a boy playing with men. BUT this may of been nervs and maybe he will show up even more the next game :yo:

Next game try some different lines. If we leave it as is, we are just gonna be beating our heads against the wall for the next 20 games while the LLW line sputters and Kane and Joki become more and more on different planets from one another. Time to mix it up asap...

Something like:
Kane - Scheifele - Wheeler
Ladd - Jokinen - Little
Poni - Burmistrov - Antropov
Peluso - Slater - Wellwood
Thorburn/Wright

Defense, gotta give Redmond a shot. He's better than Clitsome and should be just as ready as Postma.

How is that an embarrassing comment? Line up the NHL starters 1 through 30, tell me where Pavs is. At this point, he's an average to below average starting goalie. Doesn't mean he won't ascend.
