I recall CBC mentioning the Sens had the most players playing through the lockout while we had the least. It sure showed after about the first 10 minutes.

Just got home from the game.

Lost the Quiz game. :shakehead

Hagman is widely considered the first Finn to play in the NHL, its a national obsession. Hagman was the right answer.

Thankfully TNSE agreed they made a mistake.....but my embarassment it is front of 15300 fans regardless

PS- i'm not bitter...... :)

Just got home from the game. Not a good effort at all. Highlight of the night $4.25 Jumbo draft and 25% off merch. Got a white away #44 Bogo jersey to match my inaugural home #4 Bogo jersey. The bad the actual game. Buff easily the best jet. Postma looked every bit an AHLer. Olli was invisible. Scheifele sure falls a lot but generated some of the best chances. I say give him a chance to succeed by playing him on the 2nd line.

Well, you certainly sounded positive about your answer and gave some extra info to back it up, I didn't think you were embarrassing. :handclap:

If after 5 games Kane and Jokinen still don't click and Scheifele does enough to prove he deserves to be here, I wonder if we could see something like:

Kane - Scheifele - Wheeler/Little
Ladd - Jokinen - Wheeler/Little
Poni - Burmi - Antro
Thorburn - Slater - Wellwood

I wish Bogo would have faked his "wrist injury during training" earlier in the summer! Is that Jumbo Draft price for today or all year?

 You sounded so confident. I knew it was Pentti Lund, but turns it out he wasn't actually a Finnish trained player. So that's a bit of a sneaky trick question.

Major props to you for being a good sport about it, that's unfortunate they would ask a question like that.

The Jets are in rebuilding mode and its going to be two or three more seasons before we become a competative team.

Buff was our best player and I'm happy he showed up in shape.

The Jets are too passive and seem to get pushed around alot.

I will be patient.

Well, thank you.:handclap:

I was right! I actually emailed a person in Finland....they said HAGMAN.

Even the TNSE person said 'yeah, it was hagman....'

in his honour, I'm getting a Finnish jersey made!!!

My thoughts:

Enstrom and Buff were great. The rest of the defense was average to poor and they had problems moving the puck up the ice. We really need Bogosian back asap.

LLW were very quiet.

I like Burmie's game for the most part today, was very strong defensively and on the pk. He was also keeping things more simple in the offensive zone which was good. Biggest issue was his decision making on the pp, still has a way to go in that regard.

Anto and Poni were both solid.

Slater and Thorborn were ok as well.

Scheifele had a solid game. I though he was a bit nervous early and was boubling the puck a bit but got noticably better as the game went on. Is quicker and and stronger, but needs to work on keeping his feet moving. It may be best to keep him up here so that he can work day in day out with the Jets training staff to work on his strength and balance.

The Kane line seemed pretty disjointed to me. Jokininen was missfireing on all of his passes today (lets hope its a rust/familiarity problem) and Kane's hands let him down on a couple of occasions. Wellwood was pretty invisable.

Much love!

Thankfully a few ppl bought me (50%-off) booze right after.

Made the pain go away...just a bit....

Pavs was AWFUL! God those goals by Turris and Karlsson he should of had, could have kept the Jets in it and maybe swung the momentum.

What game were you watching? Not only did Clitsome totally screen Pavelec on Karlsson's goal, he deflected it right into the top corner. No goalie in the world stops that shot.

Pavelec didn't shut the door on the first goal and that's on him. He got a terribly unlucky deflection on the fourth goal, which was far more difficult to stop than the idiotic CBC commentator made it sound (they never showed a good replay but it was a big deflection that sent the puck into the hardest part of the net for him to get to) other than that, the blame goes elsewhere.

With one goal in support, there was no chance whatsoever for Pavelec to win this game, considering that Karlsson goal was absolutely unstoppable for anyone.

Game sucked after the first 10 minutes. Jets forwards couldn't make a pass to save their lives. Buff and Enstrom were good. Clitsome was atrocious and Postma handed out a free pizza. Not very good. Then a 10 minute wait to exit and TNSE doesn't even bother to have a poster for every fan? WTF? Fail on many areas. :shakehead

For those knocking Schiefele, he created as much offense as anybody today with less ice time than most.

Too much rust, they just need to get some legs under them, and some ice time. And Bogo.

i might be one in the minority, but i thought that Kane and Jokinen looked like they could develop some great chemistry, if someone else (read anyone but Wellwood) is on that line with them.

Similar situation as Ladd Little Wheeler last year. If it doesnt work right away, dont throw in the towel, give them some time together to mesh, and get a feel for the play each guy brings to the table. Cycle down low with Burmi Kane and Jokinen could be a pretty decent line.

Didn't see the deflection on the 4th at the game, but that makes sense. It looked like a pretty routine save. Totally agree about the 3rd goal, he had zero chance on that.

I didn't think Pavs had a terrible outing, but we need him to be better.

That was a weird, weird game. I thought the Jets looked pretty damn good over 17 minutes or so of the first period. They were pressing, were forechecking, and were checking well when they didn't have the puck. They then seemed to fade as the game wore on though and that was probably conditioning, too many guys out of game shape. Some strange performances. Clitsome might as well just go back on the waiver wire from whence he came. Postma is a complete gong show in his own end but did also block 3 shots at the same time and even ripped one off the post early in the game. Bring back Meech and pair him with Redmond. At least Meech would play a safer game. I thought Little played way too soft, wasn't seemingly engaged enough, and Wheeler appeared lost at times.

I also think Scheifele's spaghetti legs are just a case of nerves; he seemed to gain some confidence as the game progressed and his balance improved at the same time. He basically walked the Norris winner in the third; Scheifele is a pretty damn talented kid. He deserves a shot at centre rather than have a bunch of people critiquing his game while he is playing out of position.

So anyway, the Jets hit a few posts and the Sens got a few goals off strange deflections. Just one of those nights and isn't necessarily representative of the end of the world by any means.

I agree, I thought both were clearly rusty but could be good together. I seem to be in the minority but I thought Kane had a solid game, hit a cross bar and had a couple of other good chances. I also like how he looked to pass the puck more today. I say give Scheifele a shot on the line on Monday.

I agree that Buff played great and Postma played poorly... but...
What if Postma's hit on the post had gone in... and Byfuglien's shot didn't...
What if none of Postma's 4 giveaways resulted in a goal... and one of Byfuglien's 4 did...

It's one game and it happens.
If we can get Bogo back soon we'll have a competent top4 that we can start sheltering the **** out of our 3rd pairing and two Stuart/Postma/Redmond/Clitsome can beat the **** out of 4th liners.

I thought Jokinen was pretty good tonight. Granted he and Kane didn't hook up like we all wanted them to...but its the first game. I'm sure results will come with time. I thought Wellwood worked his little tale off, and looked to be better then ever. Buff has a good commitment to actual D now which is good.

All in all...the D outside of Toby and Buff need to shape up and if they could capitalize on the PP this game would have been in the bag by the end of the first.

I'm bummed, but the possession game was much better. The pp needs work. Nothing that wont get fixed in 48games.

Both goals deflected off Jets players and a nice screen job by Clitsome on Karlsson's goal too. Pavs was just fine thanks.
