The series is pretty much what I expected so far, i.e., L.A. dominant on home ice, the Oilers struggling to score or press early in games, and the Oilers' PK a trainwreck without Ekholm.
The Oilers absolutely deserve to be down 0-2 in this series, not only for their putrid play but for the insane decision to start Stu Skinner in game two. All season long, Pickard has performed better, and game one's poor result necessitated a change. We all saw that. The org somehow didn't.
Don't get me wrong, even if Pickard goes in it's not the Oilers are likely to win the series, but game one perhaps would have been possible. I would have been very happy with a split in the current situation, and they could have had it, but for the sheer idiocy of the people in charge.
Anyway, Oilers can't play defense without Ekholm to stabilize the ship. But you'd think they'd be able to score a bit in the first two periods of games when the goals matter. So far, two goals scored in 80 minutes of period one and two.
