Play was still going on maybe Genoni should be readyGreasy shot at the goalies head there at the end.
No it isn't. This is the IIHF. You never know what they will do. Of course Canada isn't one of their favored teams so he should get a big suspension.I don't know, maybe something is getting lost in translation here. That's the most obvious suspension ever so to me phrasing "probably maybe might get looked at" seems odd.
I think he gets the rest of the tournamentNo it isn't. This is the IIHF. You never know what they will do. Of course Canada isn't one of their favored teams so he should get a big suspension.
Feel like this is a myth, it's actually very consistent, especially compared to the NHL where anything can be anything. Is it soft at times - sure. But I personally don't remember an instance where they didn't hand out an obvious suspension. No it isn't. This is the IIHF. You never know what they will do.
2006 - Turin olympics: Switzerland 2 Canada 0. Switzerland with a team an order of magnitudes worse than the current team.I've heard Gord Miller from TSN saying the Swiss think they can compete in a best on best tournament. I know they have 1 of the best defenseman in the NHL and a few really good forwards but I don't see them competing in a best on best tournament
Play was way offside. That is an automatic intentional, with the face off all the way down. No way it can count as a goal, therefore it is greasy to take a shot that high on the goalie.Play was still going on maybe Genoni should be ready
I think they could. Core of:I've heard Gord Miller from TSN saying the Swiss think they can compete in a best on best tournament. I know they have 1 of the best defenseman in the NHL and a few really good forwards but I don't see them competing in a best on best tournament
You play the teams that are there. In this tournament with the mediocre teams iced yes.
2006 - Turin olympics: Switzerland 2 Canada 0. Switzerland with a team an order of magnitudes worst than the current team.
2010 - Vancouver olympics: Canada 3 Switzerland 2 in a shootout. Again, a team much worse than today‘s team.
I mean it's the IIHF, so wouldn't be too shocked at him getting nothing or just a game.I don't know, maybe something is getting lost in translation here. That's the most obvious suspension ever so to me phrasing "probably maybe might get looked at" seems odd.
They have a 5-man unit that can hang with anyone. If you could true fatigue off like it’s EA Sports then they’d have a good chance. I just don’t think their depth can hang with the top nations. But that’s why games are played on ice and not paper.I think they could. Core of:
Niederreiter
Hischier
Kurashev
Meier
Fiala
Josi
Siegenthaler
Moser
Schmid
That’s pretty good, that’s not even counting in their Swiss League players or prospects like Bischel or Knak. Good players and depth at all positions.
You are being dense on purpose. No one said that this was something that was planned beforehand. But if you think that this Veleno play a la Matt Cooke is something done with no purpose, either this is indeed your first game or you are being dishonest. I believe that it‘s the latter. Don‘t be dishonest. You’re right.
The Canadian coaching brain trust called Veleno into their hotel room last night and gave him secret instructions to wait until they were fighting for a puck along the boards and then stomp him on the leg.
That it might only be 2 games or so, sure I wouldn't be surprised considering there was no injury or anything. But there is no way he isn't getting suspended. Especially doing it to high-profile player which IIHF definitely wants to protect. Considering the plummeting turnout of NHL stars to these events, they might even consider throwing a book at Veleno to send the message.I mean it's the IIHF, so wouldn't be too shocked at him getting nothing or just a game.
I think all Canadians have pride of represent the Country, but there is a ton of reasons why players decline. Family- injuries-no contract- clubs say no- insurance price etc

I legit think it's Veleno's attempt to remain relevant when it's clearer by the day he is useless as a scorer and unless he adds some other dimension he is out of the league.
Not (only) „on purpose“, but „for a purpose“. Do you know the difference? You do, yet you still deflect. That‘s being dishonest. Take the L on a behavior that does soil Canada and move on. That‘s what I suggest.A lot of it has to do with the hosting location.
Prague or Germany will always attract more hockey wives, I’m sorry to say.
When did I say he didn’t do it on purpose?
Now who is being dense?
I’m saying it’s not part of Canada’s “game plan” because stomping a guy’s leg isn’t part of any game plan in today’s hockey.
What’s funny is that I’m the first person who brought the dirty play up in this thread and compared it to Matt Cooke.
Please stop being intellectually dishonest.
And in other news a third period is now underway.I legit think it's Veleno's attempt to remain relevant when it's clearer by the day he is useless as a scorer and unless he adds some other dimension he is out of the league.
High profile player? I would think it might go the other way as well. If they hand out a big suspension it might deter players form playing. Since you never know what might end up being a suspension. That it might only be 2 games or so, sure I wouldn't be surprised considering there was no injury or anything. What is this ridiculous crap???? There was no underlying purpose. Veleno is not smart enough for that. And a Bruins fan should be able to tell the difference. Not (only) „on purpose“, but „for a purpose“. Do you know the difference? You do, yet you still deflect. That‘s being dishonest. Take the L on a behavior that does soil Canada and move on. That‘s what I suggest.
