No shock, even last year's team that was better than this year's guys seemed to be far more interested in playing for their draft status than anything.

it is absolutely mystifying to me that there seem to be unc fans that really thought mack would step down if asked, to "save face" instead of being fired. they must be related to the habs fans that thought price would retire instead of staying on ltir to the end.

mack brown isn't walking away from a $15 million payoff. or whatever the buyout is. he has 3 years left on a 5 million a year deal.

(side note - i know state fans that think doeren will retire before his contract ends. same deal, so i'm not calling out unc fans for once.)

I wish that we'd accept our fate re: football. I know it's the chasing the TV revenue $$$..blah blah. However, pretty much since the blown 1996 VA game, I have kept it at a distance. It's an amusement that occasionally delivers some exciting moments and football/tailgating at Kenan is often a great way to spend a fall day for the experience rather than the football. The silly bowl games are a fun way to spend time with friends and family and maybe capture some low key bragging rights.

I do love many of the players that have passed through the program over the years though and enjoy following their careers. Tylee Craft's inspiring journey really broke my heart and saddened me.

We have so many other better programs that I wish they'd pour a few more dollars into and focus on especially the women's programs that actually deliver the trophies and are fun to follow.

My aunt has been following UNC football since the 80s. She still mentions this one as "the one that got away". I know a few older fans of the program and they too say the same thing. They also reference not beating FSU but nobody was beating FSU in the 90s.

I am the furthest thing from a UNC fan but in general this is a terrific point. I like Women's college hoops and find it to be a fun sport. I know most people will point to UConn domininating every year as to why the mens game is better, but you've got so many programs where the Football/Men's Basketball sucks but the NCAAW team is terrific. Iowa/Mississippi State/Rutgers/South Carolina/Stanford among others. I don't follow it closely but during the one-and-done era I started paying more attention, much better continuity, less hero ball, more likeable stars.

But, as long as football exists, that's where the $$$ goes.

Buyout is $2.8M and

He needed to go as FB rules the roost.

UNC’s future is pretty dark right now with abject recruiting and transfers pending

I suspect UNC would continue to free fall in a weak ACC had he continued.
