Preseason is preseason

I think they can come in 4th5th for the division. Can they squeeze into a wild card? Maybe.

I see

Jets
Smashville
Avalanche.
Stars

Wild

Making it

Pacific

Canucks
 OILERS
Vegas
Kings

Then

Kraken v Calgary and Wild have to fight out and make a Wild card.

Maybe Utah becomes sneaky.

Edit: oilers over Flames mb
Dont overrate them, i doubt they will finish 4th or 5th in division.

Preseason hardly is an indicator, however that bit of confidence early on could help them get off to a good start which is needed if they have a chance at a playoff spot
No, a great preseason dont mean you will have a good start or even get close to playoffs. No teams have played all their regulars yet in one game

I don't have them as a top 8 team in the conference.

Thing is though there division.

Kraken/Flames
Ducks
Sharks

I can't see why they couldn't come 5th if they have good goaltending.

Kraken I do think beat them out and can compete with the Kings though.

I have Canuck, Oilers, Vegas, Krakens and Kings as my top 5. Flames will probably be 6th, ahead of Sharks and Ducks

"quietly" leading because the pre-season is meaningless. No matter which way things get sliced and diced there is no correlation between pre-season success and regular season success. There are articles on this every single year.
I cant wait til regular season starts. I want to see JT miller play lol

I mean it is entirely possible that the Flames will be better than everyone thought, but i wouldn't use preseason as a reason whey they might be better.

With a win over Kraken, they are #1 in the standings. 6 games, 5 wins and 1 OTL. Only team that doesn't have a regulation loss so far.

A lot of guys were writing them off prior to the season. But that team still has a lot of talent and they are hungry to prove themselves. Are they going to be a playoff team again?

It's not easy finding preseason standings, but there you have it.

Dallas? 5-0-0 so far.
Calgary is 5-0-1
LA is 3-0-1
Carolina is 2-0-1

None of this will mean ANYTHING a week from now because that's when the real games start, but I saw the bolded part of your post and had to laugh.

I think this is a parody thread
I mean clearly, all of these threads for years have been parodies to start.

If every team needed a roster of 30 that played equal times we could be dangerous.

Unfortunately we don't have a top line or a 2nd pairing. But we do have like 4 3rd lines and like 6 guys battling for the #6 spot on defense. Pretty much be happy with any of them.

Pretty meaningless. Don’t think they are going to be good.

What is encouraging is the play of Honzek, Coronato, Brusztewicz, Wolf, Zary, Gridin, Basha. Lots of really good prospects. Honzek especially, he’s got the elusive speed, size, hands and vision combo; could be a special player soon.

It wasn’t too long ago that the Flames were considered the best 5v5 team in hockey for a full regular season - all to get decimated by the Oilers in the playoffs and have both their stars running off to a different country.

Anyways…back to the preseason cup.
It wasn't too long ago that the Oilers tanked for over a decade just to have a star-filled roster and not being able to win anything with it.

Anyways...back to the preseason cup.

As meaningful as the ppg preseason that Czerkawski had before scoring 14 points in 43 regular season games in 2002-03 and ended up in the minors.

I didn’t say it means they will have a good start.
No but you somoehow still think preseason might be indicative that they might be any good. Just forget about preseason when regular season starts. Its completely different
