Cale Makar scores 30 goals in a season, first since Mike Green

What do you want us to say? Hughes got hurt and took himself out of the running for the Norris. He was also arguably the front runner before he got hurt. He was playing even better than last season, and doing so with almost zero help. On an island out there.

Hughes is leading his team in scoring with 70 points in 61 games. Next is Brock Boeser with 46 points in 68 games.

Neutral fan just poppin in to say “I agree.”

It’s not enough that Makar kicks ass, multiple Avs posters here are like “hey, why haven’t the Canucks fans gone outta their way to heap praise? They have no reason to be angry, currently. I am self aware.”

Anywho, he’s a twice in a generation talent.

These days all I can do is shake my head and hope that Vancouver fans don't let themselves get goaded into it, and vice versa. There are provocateurs on both sides that keep it going. What a tiresome dialogue we've had on that topic over the years.

Do Avs fans really care about Vans homage to Cale? No. No, they don’t. As far Avs fans are concerned, Makar is obviously the superior player and to say otherwise requires extraordinary mental gymnastics. No. You need to prove to us that they’re equal. Cale has played hurt a lot. Quinn hasn’t. Not saying he’s soft. It’s a team decision. But still.

30 goals is cool, but this kid has a real chance to hit 100 points before the end of the season. That would be crazy coming from a defenseman.

I will never tire of seeing the Canucks and their fans take Ls.

Cale Makar short-handed average time on ice per game - 2:08
Quinn Hughes short-handed average time on ice per game - 0:08

Hughes can't even be trusted to play PK. "Oh, we don't want him to play PK and get injured." So, then, he's not really that important defensively, is he?

The Avs obviously don't want Makar getting injured, but he is on the top PK unit because he's a beast defensively as well as offensively.

Cale Makar blocked shots - 119 in 77 GP
Quinn Hughes blocked shots - 62 in 61 GP

Quinn Hughes is a very good player, but please, there's no comparison.

Cale Makar is bigger, faster, stronger, scores more, plays more defense, etc. There isn't a single thing that Hughes is better than Makar at.
