The melt down on the Oilers board is hilarious. One guy cancelled
his cable package cause he's sick of the Oilers. Another one said Trouba should of got called for 2 penalty (one against Eberle then again on Belov). Haha

Do agree with one Oiler fan who said Trouba over Yakupov as the true #1 in the 2012 draft!:handclap:

woh woh, slow down. Don't be that hard on our Winnipeg friends .

That Valabik pick... I can just see it happening in front of me.

"- Sir, I have a question about your choice for our 1st round pick.
- Yes?
- You wrote Zdeno Chara on the note.
- Yes? And...?
- Mr. Waddell, he was drafted by the Islanders. 8 years ago.
- Ah, but there is a new Zdeno Chara in this year's draft! His name is Boris Valabik!
- Boris Vala... But sir, is it really wise to draft a player at #10 because he's big and from the same country as Chara?
- I don't think you understand. I will be the GM who stole the next Chara from under the nose of those other teams!
- But he can't skate!
- Skating can be taught! Size can't!
- He has the hockey IQ of a rock!
- Don Waddell is going to be the name on everyone's lips after this draft!
- Sir, I'm telling you, except for size, this guy has no qualities that a hockey player should have!
- The next Chara...
- You're not even listening, are you?
- Don "Charadrafter" Waddell...
- *sigh*"

Have to say I love Buff playing forward. Those "wow" plays that he made once a game or so on defense are up to 3 or 4 a game with much less risk defensively. It seems like he has more energy playing less minutes and has been more effective because of it.

All around the team just seems to be playing better in their own zone and I think some of it might have to do with how Buff played in that position. I feel like his high risk/high reward system hurt the team even when he wasn't on the ice. It set a chaotic tone to the game that affected the whole team and had everyone running around. Now he can do what he's always done while the defense play a calm and collected game.

But of course this could also just be the new coach high that usually happens when there's a coaching change and we could revert to the Noel Jets in no time, but so far I like what I see from Buff on forward and it's nice to have 3 lines that are able to score. Hell if the 4th line gets more minutes and play like they did when they had their chance today we could even get some production from them!

Totally agree. Which surprises me as Buff was completely pedestrian there the last few times we tried that experiment.

It also has a larger effect on the roster as we now add depth to our weakest position (RW) and remove from a position of great depth (RHD). Hopefully we continue it and allow some of the younger guys like Postma and Redmond to crack the roster.

Missed the Schief goal as I was driving. Just watched the highlight...sweet goal! The guy is utterly brilliant at creating space for himself.

Wow. What a game. Trouba was the obvious first star selection but Scheifele could have been the tie/1b choice. That GWG goal doesn't get scored without Scheif first sending Wheeler into the offensive zone with a phenomenal stretch pass.

Scheif's stat line was outstanding:
G: 1
Shots: 6
A: 0
Hits: 2
PTS: 1
+/-: 2
Takeawys: 2
Blocked shot: 1
TOI: 18:05

He manufactured a critical goal out of nothing all by himself.

The play by Little to Trouba was also incredible -- the penalty killing in the third was as good as it gets.

The radio guys keep referring to how weak the teams the Jets have beat are and how they're playing good "with a gun to their back." Personally, I'm not really even concerned with the opponent. I'm just looking at the things the Jets are doing and seeing such a marked difference since the Noel firing that its almost incomprehensible short of suggesting the team was sandbagging under noel. I mean they look like a different team altogether from the one that could barely make a complete pass two weeks ago. As far as them playing out of fear for their jobs or something, I just don't buy that. It just looks to me like they are feeling inspired...

Great game, would have loved to see more bounces go in our favour, especially the final Buff wrap around damn he worked hard for it was hoping he would convert.

Liking the way the team is playing under Maurice. Keep it up boys, real challenge ahead.

This whole "these teams are bad, and played bad games" thing sticks in my craw. Yes, these aren't good teams, but the Jets are dominating them on possession, AND these are the exact kind of games they'd come out flat for and lose.

As I said before, I'm cautiously optimistic that we might be seeing "who" the Jets are, and what their identity is. Looking forward to the huge challenge going into those California barns.

EDIT: nice Gump! Rookies rool! Love Trouba's confidence in his offensive game, loved his drive to the net on his goal, Scheifele's stretch pass was awesome, Little with some Datsyuk style moves for the assist on the first goal. Nice stuff.

Yeah I'd absolutely love to see the Jets steal 2 or 3 points in the next 3 games, but I'm not really expecting it. All I really need to see is that they keep the compete level up like they have been...

I'll point out something pretty obvious. If you look at the team with maurice after 3 games, there hasn't been alot of odd man rushes against. Also the gap seems better and they don't seem to be coming in as fast. The back checking and the players covering for the D is also improved.
