Look at what Nashville got for Ekholm in an identical situation. Ekholm was older and can't get you the 50 points Andersson does. It's going to be easily that. I think he'll get more. There's not another defenseman who can play top pairing RHD on the market.

I think if Calgary moves him it'll be for more than I just laid out. I said it would be a good prospect and a 1st for Lindholm last year. It ended up being a good prospect, 1st, top 6 wing, bad prospect and another pick.
I'd easily throw out an unprotected 1st, Savoie, O'Reilly and whatever else it took to get Rasmus in Edmonton.

Problem is I doubt Conroy even considers a trade with them.

Dude is an absolute stud defenseman.

Both first pairing caliber but Guhle much younger. Look at difference in control and salaries? Guhle locked up for 5 more years while Andersson will sign for 10-11 million.
Huh? I like Guhle, but he's not a top pairing defenseman. Even for Montreal who doesn't have a top pairing defenseman.

Guhle might have the potential to get there but he isn’t there yet. Andersson will not sign for over 10 million, I expect he’ll come in around 8.5. He’s significantly better than Guhle is now and if you want to argue potential than the difference is certainly not Zary

You get Andersson for 8.5 million your GM wins GM of year in landslide. He's a #1 right D in prime years

Dude you have some seriously weird obsession with the Flames offering the Canadiens a mid first pick due to the Monahan trade conditions. A few Montreal fans are like this (not all). I bet it's in the same dream where you're finding out about it on HF while in bed with a supermodel.

You've posted in the Flames forums that we should maintain the integrity of the game and not tank, thus making all sorts of mentions that we should make moves to improve the team and basically go for a wildcard spot. Your ideas aren't just dripping in ulterior motive, it's overflowing with it.

What happens when you look your team in the mirror? "Je ne comprend pas. Habs are not tanking, we just suck/management est stupide."?

Seriously. Give it a break.

It's not guaranteed, but there's a good chance Andersson signs/extends for less than $10 AAV. He's the type of player who will likely make sure his deal doesn't handcuff a GM from building a contender. This was the case when he signed his 6 x 4.55, this will likely be the case again when he signs his next contract. Many Flames fans also believe he's next in line for the captaincy when Backlund retires.

Habs using Flames pick has nothing to do with this trade. Move along if you have nothing valid to say

The last paragraph addresses something stated earlier in the thread and is relevant to the trade mentioned in this thread. If that's nothing valid to say, OK then.
