I think the point totals IN the ahl go down because the top players get called up more often then not.

This kid is a special talent. I think he's better than Marner.

Me too. I think Nylander will be a #1C and Marner will be a #1RW.
Nylander has impressed me so much. Its frustrating because the Leafs need Nylander's offense sooo much but refuse to call him up.

Nylander is my favourite Leafs prospect, but there is no way we can say he's better or going to be better than Marner.

Marner is a special talent in his own right, we just get to see more of Nylander.

I know though, I'm happy to have both.

The league in general is more evenly distrubted in scoring, AHL on average has a higher goals per game than the NHL. There's not necessarily a ton of standout point getters, seems like the AHL scoring title is consistently up for grabs.

We all knew he has offensive skill.. not sure why anyone is surprised?

It's the rest of his game that was lacking, it is there he must improve, or he's just another Kessel.

Well first of all he has been better in that end than Kessel was from the get go.

Nylander has never a liability in his own end he's just never been a dominant force in that end.

I'm just going to say it like it is, if Nylander turns into another Kessel, i won't be disappointed. Every team has space for a Kessel. It's how that team chooses to surround him that matters.

Uh.........you in some kind of hurry or something?

He'll be up next year, when he's older, stronger, wiser, and the team has some better options to surround him with.

Leafs are tanking. so why rush Nylander when you know you aren't going anywhere!!! Leave him with marlies all year and next year he comes up...

Maybe, but there's an argument that he could be better next year if you bring him up this year.

Please don't give me every tired response that I hear every single time when I dare have the audacity to think that maybe Nylander playing against opponents that aren't blatantly inferior to him will make him better than playing against said opponents. If you disagree, that's fine. But I've literally already heard every single thing anyone would have to say about wanting to keep him down.

Y'all woulda sent McDavid down and if we get Matthews I bet you'll wanna send him down. Worked out more than fine with Rielly.

Rielly was still sent down for 1 year after he was drafted. He didn't make the jump right away.

Matthews i'd definitely put in right away.

Leafs have drafted several players in latter rounds that look much better than expected

D Dermot & Neilson both look like steals

F Timashov should have been a 1st round pick steal of the draft at this point

Been trying to contain my hype but with 5 points in 3 games he's now at 14 points in 12 games and is still 7 months away from turning 20.

He's earned his spot on the 15/16 roster no matter what approach management wants to take for building the team.

Hard not to be excited when he's having such a good year. Producing well and doing that while playing center. Will have a lot of flexibility going forward and should be more than ready next year to make that jump.

The difference between an Auston Matthews and a William Nylander is that Matthews gains nothing by going to the AHL. Nylander might be NHL ready, but he does some stuff he can learn by being down with the Marlies.

He will stick around in the AHL, with Babcock as a coach, whois been groomed Detroit development style. Leave younger players in the farm team to develop, and nothing to lose if "overdevelops" Kid should be given some NHL trial time right now.

Matthews only missed last years draft cut off by 2 days, so he is one of the older players available in this years draft. So he is *likely* to be more physically mature then most.

To be fair, most of the players that Detroit drafted over that time weren't this close to being NHL ready. And Detroit also had a much better roster, so they could afford to do that

I just prefer Nylander's skill-set. He's also my favorite prospect in the league so I'm a bit biased.

People need to stop with this supposed Detroit phenomena. The reason the Wings left their players in the AHL so long is because every year they were always drafting later and got project guys. Remember, the Wings were competitive from late 90's all the way until 2010 before having a drop off. They've always been up there in the standings. So the guys they drafted had notable deficiencies that needed developing. Larkin is the perfect example of how someone who has NHL ready talent is immediately on their team.
