Sorry but him not getting top minutes because the coach can't trust him makes literally zero sense... he wouldn't be playing in the NHL if that was the case. I think they're simply trying to avoid burning him out early and make the transition smoother. He turned 18 last summer and didn't even play big minutes in his FEL team last season.

Yeah. He is not ready for big minutes, stamina is still missing.

All I will say about Dahlin is Bouwmeester and Johnson. 2 of the last 3 defencemen drafted 1st OA that had similar accolades thrust upon them. (I know Bouwmeester was 3rd, but that was draft day dealing so Columbus could get Nash. Florida was happy to snag him at 1 and would not have traded down if they weren’t still guaranteed to get him) Both fell well short of expectations. In a redraft neither is going 1st.

It’s great that he has the skill and talent. Just hold off on the coronation until he’s done something in the league. (Same with Kotkaniemi) Chances are that someone drafted after him will turn out better.

I'm curious whose going first in that nash draft if neither bouwmeester or nash? the two of them are at the top of most major categories? Maybe Keith?

I think it depends on the team. Columbus would stick with Nash, and Florida would take Keith. What a miserable draft though. Especially when considering it was sandwiched between the ‘01 and ‘03 drafts.

He has 8 pts in his last 10 games.

He had 4 pts in his first 11 games.

The guy just keeps getting better and better.

still needs to work on getting his shot through and his defensive coverage to be a true #1 Center tbh but he's one of the most exciting habs rookies since subban. once he gets stronger his ability to control down low behind the net is going to be monsterous

I would love him in the first PP. He is such a smart player and with space and time he would be very dangerous.

makes the most of his opportunites and smart plays
great vision for options on play

still is very easily knocked off the puck
but that will come with time

i do find that his long stick sometimes gives him more problems than it helps

He has the frame and brains for Rantanen type player.
And Rantanen looks like Jagr. :)

No I am not joking. Lots of similarities how they protect the puck and pass.

So nice surprice. Not that he is good but that he is this early.

It's clear this kid was rushed to the NHL.

He's on pace for 36 points and he'll probably get even less as the NHL grind starts to wear on him later into the season.

He might've outgrown the Finnish league, but it's better to let a player dominate a lesser league while they develop than throwing him into a role in the NHL he isn't suited for.

Habs are going to ruin this kid like they did to Galchenyuk.

I wouldn't worry about points. Barkov had 16 in 54 games at the same age. I feel like Kotkaniemi is in similar situtation as him: playing the hardest position out there as an 18yo old and him having mediocre linemates doesn't help the process of putting up great numbers immediately.

This right here. But OMG he’s going to bust!!! Not enough points!

He's been playing on the 3rd line with 20-40 point players, what do people really expect?

Wasn't difficult to believe some people would start to question him at some point of the season, give him damm talent on his line and see his vision in work.

I know right, just look at Thornton and Lecavalier for example, these guys were rushed in and they couldn't even get 30 points in their first season. You can see the negative effect it did on their career, what a shame!o_O

How many points did Nolan Patrick get last year? Or Aleksander Barkov in 2013-2014? Or Joe Thornton in his rookie season? How much is Svechnikov on pace for?

This seens like an obvious trolling comment.
