When the Russian is all ready 21 years old you know a lot more what you are getting with him. They must think it is very likely he will be an NHLer.

Insane to me as a Ducks fan seeing us draft a Russian, we haven't since 2009.

I think there might be a good reason for that:
2001 - Anaheim drafted Chistov #5 overall - FAIL
stayed away from Russians for 8 years, then
2009 - Round 3 Anaheim takes Bobkov - FAIL

So they dont draft Russians a lot in general and when they do, they seem to be way off on them. Not sure if they lacks scouts in Russia or what it is, but ye, they suck at taking Russians :)

A third rounder that did not make NHL it's not really a FAIL. Always a gamble. There's like 6 or 7 NHL regulars from third round of that draft.

I think Bobkov could play very well in the NHL right now based on his success in KHL in recent years. I doubt he would play for the Ducks though.

Everytime I think of that name Galimov, reminds me of Alex Galimov(RIP)

It's a pretty common Tatar/Bashkir surname. Kazan had two Galimovs last season and their Twitter frequently called Artyom "Галимов-младший", or Galimov Jr., to separate him from Emil Galimov, who plays for SKA now.

I like Galimov, I was very surprised to see the Ducks of all teams pick him up given their history of rarely drafting Russians. His contract runs until 2023 so he's not going to come over anytime soon, but still a nice asset to keep in your back pocket.

I want to get excited for him as a Ducks prospect, but I don't want to be hurt lol.

It would be awesome if the first Russian skater the Ducks draft in almost 20 years ends up being an overager steal.
Don't expect a superstar. He is that 2nd rate prospect. He is doing good, but he needs more time to see what he is going to be. If he indeed can be something like a 2nd liner, that would be his ceiling I guess.

His playstyle and skating reminds me of Kirill Kaprizov on that play.

Unfortunately for the Ducks and Galimov Kaprizov scored 51pts in 57 games with league leading 30 goals at the same age in the KHL. Galimov now sits at 16 points in 39GP.

Certainly not the same level of talent, but he is progressing well so far nonetheless.

I said their play style not their production.
