Very good start for Baillie, showing he was one of the biggest omission in last year draft: 8-10-4-14, best goal scorer in the WHL.
He has played really well. A noticeable player in a good way everywhere on the ice. Physically engaged, smart. Could skate a little better and a little undersized. No fear though, and really clutch in tough situations. Shows up even when the team around him doesn't. Never seems to lose his will to win. Surprised he wasn't drafted, definitely was worthy of at least a 5th or 6th round pick.

Was really hoping Calgary would draft him. Haven't made it up to Kelowna to see him play yet this season, sadly.

Why do teams (like the Canucks) draft a bunch of plugs over guys with legitimate upside? In the 6th and 7th we had a plethora of high upside guys to take a flyer on: Hicketts, Tkachev, Baillie, Aho, Perron, etc. Instead we have guys who we hope can be 4th liners or the next Andrew Alberts. Why.

No idea. I feel like depth players can be had easily in the offseason and some high upside guys do become bottom 6ers anyway so... It was crazy that Tkachev and Aho weren't picked IMO
I just can't understand that. The players Benning picked in the 6th/7th rounds are guys we hope one day turn into players of comparable calibre to guys who are unsigned all summer on the free agent market. Or who are readily available on waivers.
The thought process just makes no sense. Why not take a chance on someone who might actually be able to make an impact?

I can't believe this kid didn't get picked in the 2014 draft! Even though he only stands at 5'10 he still puts up insane points. He should have at least been drafted in the 7th round based on the numbers he puts up. Hope he gets drafted in 2015..

I've been saying this for years (Well, saying that he's worthy of being an NHL prospect)... The kid never gets enough talk about him.
Prior to his draft year some thought he might be a first rounder, obviously he slid quite a bit in his draft year. After the first few round of the draft last year he still wasn't chosen and after it was completed the first thing I did was try and find out who nabbed him. I was thoroughly stunned when I saw he went undrafted.
Sure he's 5'10'', but he sure as hell doesn't play like it.
