Steel has pretty good wheels, I've never found that to be an issue when watching him. I agree that he has top 6 potential, just want to see if he can play at this level over a sustained period of time.

Rooting for him in every way, he is very polished and can affect the game in a lot of different ways. Feel like he will has the potential to be a Jaden Schwartz type player, not a direct comparison as Steel's a better skater, but that's a guy he has reminded me of in some games.

I didn't mean to say he wasn't a great skater; he is, he just doesnt have the elite speed/agility most similar sized forwards that become NHL top liners.

With a 4 point night (1G, 3 primary assists) Steel now leads the WHL in scoring with 34 points in 15 games (2.27 ppg). 12 of those 15 games have been multi point games.

A ridiculous 163 point pace over a 72 game season for Steel. Think he'll have a good chance to make team Canada for WJC's if he keeps playing like this.

I'd say he's played his way onto the team. Not only is he leading the WHL in scoring but his defensive game is excellent. He could be in a scoring role or used on a shutdown line.

It would be interesting if he was left off T.C and played close to 70 games just to see what kind of numbers he would put up. He's at 2.31 PPG right now and has a 5 point lead in the WHL scoring race. That Regina team is just stacked with talent.

Anaheim's Sam Steel avg 2.3 points/game in the WHL. If he maintains that pace it would be rank top 15 all-time for a U19 per @eliteprospects

Sam Steel has 3 goals and 8 assists in the 3 games since being cut by Team Canada, that's the type of response you want to see.

Looks like Steel and Adam Brooks will duke it out for the WHL scoring title

Last 4 games since then: 6-4-10, being 1st star three times.

Season totals now stand at 30-39-69 in 31 games. He's already up 7 goals and only 1 point shy from his career bests from last season in 72 games.

Pretty unreal he has been able to keep his pace up this long.

Atta Boy, Sam.

I had Sam on my Team Canada roster and not a cut. but unfortunately there are people at Hockey Canada making player evaluations who see things differently. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much accountability for those Hockey Canada people and their lack of success.

Sam will be on next year's team, if he's not in the NHL.

arguable that he should have bee on team Canada this year I agree. I thought he was a shoo in.

Next year he'll be on the 1st line for Canada. I don't believe the Ducks will be rushing him.

Looks like potentially another core duck was drafted with the Leafs pick. Add him to the list, I guess...sigh

Rakell
Gibson
Steel

I think kase 205th overall was a leafs pick as well no? He's currently the play driver for the ducks third line with nick Ritchie and vermette

Scored his 70th point of the season tonight in his 32nd game, matching his total from last year in 72 games

Even old Don Cherry was vouching for Steel tonight for being on Canada.

Very exciting prospect for the Ducks right now. Haven't had a forward with this potential since Rakell. I'd gladly take another Rakell.

I`m a bit worried that rarely WHL scoring 'dominators' are impact players in the NHL, for some reason. I guess I`m worried because... he`s scoring too much

K since the Ducks have a ridiculous drafting record when using picks acquired from the Leafs, just send us one or two of your defenseman and will send you a couple future stars (in the form of draft picks)
Come on. Do it.
Its worked out well for you literally every damn time

Regina just acquired a fellow Ducks pick Josh Mahura... good lord Regina is going to be unreal now. The kid is and unreal dman
