So if he starts the season on the IR so he stays with the big club as long as hes up for a certain amount of time he could go to Roch for a conditioning stint before they decide if he should go back to Jr

He can be sent back to juniors if he’s injured. He can’t be sent to the AHL (ignoring that he needs a waiver to play there full time) if injured though. Rousek was on the Sabres roster for nearly the entirety of 2021-22 because of his knee injury and surgery because of that.

He can go to the AHL the same way Shane Wright did in his 1st season, unless being on IR counts differently that being a healthy scratch.

Well this absolutely sucks for him , If it’s longer term then give him the Shane Wright treatment up until the World Juniors then send him back and trade him to a contender but if is indeed only part of training camp he still has a shot to make the team ,

As of now tho , the spot is Kulichs to lose

It does. There’s no movement allowed between the AHL and NHL when a player is on IR, other than a conditioning stint. The player has to be cleared to do that stint. And Seattle ended up burning the first year of Wright’s ELC with what they did.

Savoie would have to get in to 9 NHL games to start his ELC

He would. Regardless, jerking him around with here, then here, then here, then here, then (maybe) here is stupid. It should be “make Buffalo and be here all year unless you wanna go to the WJC” or “Wenatchee & WJC”. Unless the Sabres can get a waiver for him so he’s in the AHL.

Injuries were why he fell in the draft - hopefully he can learn to keep himself out of harm’s way without sacrificing his game too much.
He fell because he was 5'9...to 9th.

Shouldn't be a very significant injury since its part of training camp and it starts like...Wednesday.

Are we talking weeks or months with Savoie ?
Too soon to tell.

Seth Appert, who coached the Sabres prospects to a 2-1 record in this rookie tournament, said only that Savoie is dealing with an upper-body injury and will miss “some time” at main camp. He’s going to be re-evaluated Tuesday, and the team will have more information. But for a player who was hoping to push for an NHL roster spot, that’s not an ideal end to rookie camp.

These rookie tournaments are popular fan events and orgs love them, but there are a lot of desperate hockey players on the ice fighting for their careers mixed in with the high-end talent, and that is a bad recipe. Hate to say it.

No one tell him about the AHL
Except the AHL is a legit spot for young players to mature their game. Can the same be said for rookie tournaments like this? I get the WJC because that's a big deal for young players to win, but I wouldn't shed a tear if Buffalo opted out next year.
