It always made sense to me that he would play. People saying he would get the Ostlund/Nadeau treatment didn't totally add up - Ostlund was injured and Nadeau is a 4th round pick who skates like he has bricks in his boots (seriously - you will notice his skating the first time you watch him). Not that I think Nadeau is bad - but he projects as a bottom 6 guy and doesn't easily displace anybody on the Amerks right now. Savoie is more talented than a good portion of the Amerks roster right now.

I felt it was doubtful that he would get into a game unless there were injuries that forced their hand just because he hasn't ben with the team all season and they are deep into a playoff run.

Dropping a teenager into the lineup in that spot could be too risky for a lot of coaches.

Seems doubtful that he's playing immediately - the work he was doing this morning was with the other Black Aces to work the active PKers. He was on the ice with Kisakov and Pekar among others against the regular PK.

The Sabres org as a whole seems like it doesn't have a problem playing teenagers.

Yeah I would think game 3 at earliest.

I don't like putting Savoie in unless there is an injury. The guys who have played and been here, have earned their spots and the right to play. Sitting one for Savoie is a bad message in my book.

That matches what Appert said the other day when asked - it's about trusting the guys who have gotten them to this point.

It's hard to pick who they would bench, but I would have to guess Olischefski. Wasn't in Rochester most of the year. Other than that - I have a tough time seeing anybody else sitting for Savoie. Maybe Brendan Warren? It's a tough decision for Appert no doubt.

With how Appert has spoken glowingly about Warren's physical game, it likely is Olischefski, though he's talked almost as glowingly about Kohen's game too. And it's part of what those guys bring that Savoie does not - harder physical play, Kohen's faceoff prowess, tone setting, etc... - that they need in the playoffs. If they were struggling to find the net, it would be a lot easier, but the goals they're getting and how so much of the lineup is providing skills and abilities that it isn't just "take out lowest scorer, insert new guy".

If there is someone who is banged up, I could see him going in. But it's hard to find a reason to shuffle out forwards in the face of seven straight wins and 41 goals in that streak. The spot would probably have been the Weissbach one if he wasn't back in, but he is and didn't look like he was negatively impacted by whatever it was he is dealing with. But if with the size and aggression of the Bears, it wouldn't surprise to see Savoie in for a skill guy by Saturday if someone gets knocked around.

Hopefully he has a good showing, and he plays on Saturday so I can see him live. I understand posters being nervous about breaking up the line up while they're on a heater, but damn am I excited to see him live!
