Looks to be taking a step forward. Good to see. Looks like that draft class is starting to see some progress with the top 10 picks.

There’s an obvious 4 or 5 point break out game coming here any night and there will be 100 WTF posts here.
Yeah all the newbies that don't understand development. This was always going to happen it was just going to take longer. Bigger player, late birthday, lost dev time. He's not even close yet either. There's alot more coming.

Him starting to put it all together is one of the least surprising things I can recall. He's been passing the eye test for ages.
Bingo. The raw ability and potential was always there just takes players like this longer to get there.

I will say one thing from watching him a bunch this season, he has all the tools, but sometimes I’m disappointed in his intensity. I’ll see him lose the puck along boards, and then get caught watching instead of continuing to move his feet to try to recover and steal it back or add pressure. Happened a few times in tonight’s game, but otherwise he made some great passes and should have had at least 1 other assist.

I see the star ability, he just needs to put in the work now. Kind of messed up how many LA kings fans, and others around the league write him off. I suppose he was always a contentious pick - let’s hope he proves most wrong. Crazy to say for a 2nd overall.

Hopefully this puts an end to the notion that you can only succeed as a top player in this league if you come out of the gates with guns blazing. Spoiler alert: it won’t.
lol look at what people are saying about bedard. They are acting like he should put up 100 points as an 18 year old.

Beast, and might have to lock this thread up soon because he's never getting sent down again.

Future star , currently a really good player

3 more assist tonight 10 points in 11 Games. Baby steps. Kid is really starting to figure it out. His tenacity and compete level is pretty insane.

I cried to the wolves asking anyone who would listen why was Lafreniere seen as the clear cut number 1 pick in 2020.

I was fairly certain in 5 years time (when a draft class should be judged) Byfield would surpass him. 3 years later he’s still on track to do that.

Not exactly.

Byfield: 43 points in 110 games=.39PPG
Lafreniere: 96 points in 227 games=.42PPG

I root for LAF but he is so frustrating.
