C Oleksii Myklukha - Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, QMJHL (2021 Draft)

EP stills shows U20 being an active league but all the players have been drained out of the teams and the club listing is not what the actual DHL Extraliga Juniors page shows (which is still the highest level on the official hokej.cz site). So whether it is U20 or U19, it still appears to be DHL Extraliga and still appears to be the highest Czech junior league.

IIRC, the DNL (Deutsche highest youth level) is U19 as well, not U20. Maybe Czech format just changed? I feel like a lot of Czech clubs have been loaning out better young players who could be U20 to 2nd or 3rd division senior clubs.

Germany just changed their junior league from U19 to U20. I swear that Czech's junior league just changed recently from U20 to U19 because I was looking at some Czech players who played last year in a Czech U18 league.

For the people who don't know who he is, he's Ukrainian and here's his EP: Oleksii Myklukha at eliteprospects.com

u19 level is news for me as well, hopefully someone can explain if there was a recent change, and how strong the competition is.

only three OA player on a team. Goalie plus 2 in front of him, i believe. 99 born for this season. Salzburg has the youngest team in league, i think... wonder how strong competition is this ?

22 pts in 13 games in Czech u19 league, but how strong is competition?

It is sure, that is bellow CHL leagues, USHL and NAHL. But for his age (still only 15) that are great numbers.

Next season he should, no, he must go to a better league. Red Bull may have the best facility, but there are better options for such young and talented player.

First of all, this is a huge step forward for Oleksiy. Now he has an oppurtunity to play against countries like Canada, USA etc. instead of playing against Japan. Not a good day for ukrainian hockey but he made a reasonable decision

Does international competition really mean anything to the guy who is most likely going to play major junior? Most Canadians end up playing against neither USA nor Japan and turn out just fine at the end of the day.

This is excellent news for us. There has to be someway to compete with large immigrant countries like Canada and USA who are made up of non aboriginal people

The North American countries are very different than the European countries, the majority of our population is immigrants 1st , 2nd 3rd generation etc. This is in addition to the Native Americans . European countries are more homogeneous for the most part but you will still see immigrants in some sports eg Bosnians and Serbs on Swedish National soccer team. Slovakia could mostly include the Hungarians on their teams not nearly as much diversity.

Well the Hungarians have lived alongside us for a thousand plus years so it’s not quite the same. That’s like arguing that player of Ukrainian ethnicity born in eastern Ukraine electing to play for Russia. Acquiring the best players from non hockey countries is probably the best for us in order to compete with USA, Canada who have massive populations of non native peoples

Czech soccer NT could include Hungarian name like "Ujfalusi"

I'll reserve judgement until he faces good competition , I think something like the Emilio-Pettersen path would be good for him.

Oleksiy Myklukha is a few days of Slovakian citizenship and will represent Slovakia (maybeU18)
Very good news for Slovakia as well as for him. I have read article in national newspaper about him. He seems to be not only talented but also very reasonable.
I am really very curious how he will compete on the next U18 tournament in December against teams like Finland, Czechia and Germany (Germans have very good pack of 2002 born players)
I hope he will go to Scandinavia after this season. IMO this would be the best decision for his next development.

Oleksii has now Slovak passport (according to his Instagram) and likely to represent in SR-18.
Cajkovic - Myklukha - Chromiak :)
Yes, it´s confirmed, I heard news abou this from people of the slovak ice federation. he will play on next tournament SVK U18 in Budapest .

He will play on the tournament in American Plymouth for SVK U17, the roster was announced on hockeyslovakia yesterday

Because of his decision to represent Slovakia, hopefully he becomes nothing more than average czech extraliga player.

Same goes for Theo Rochette if true that he opted for Canada instead Swiss.
