Nolan Patrick returned yesterday to the Flyers' lineup against his hometown Winnipeg Jets.

He played 7:58 of TOI, the lowest of any forward in the Flyers' lineup. Dale Weise played 8:23 of TOI.

Philadelphia Flyers - Winnipeg Jets - November 16th, 2017

Zeroes across the board for Patrick. The only statistic that wasn't a zero was his faceoff percentage, which was 9%. He won 1 of 11 faceoffs yesterday (7 faceoff attempts in the first; 1 in the second; 3 in the third).

2:49 of TOI in the first period.

2:46 of TOI in the second period.

2:23 of TOI in the third period.

The Flyers play again Saturday afternoon against the Flames (1 PM ET start) -- that game is available across Sportsnet. It is best that they ease him back in; before the injury, he was logging 12 to 13 minutes of TOI per game.

Just scored a pretty nice backhander to give the Flyers the lead. Good for him doing it his first game back from missing nearly 10 games.

My hope with Patrick is that he becomes a Sean Monahan type of forward. As for the injuries, hard to do anything about a concussion from a dirty hirt. I don't think that makes one injury prone. As for the hernia, once again, a doctor misdiagnosed Patrick and he actually had two hernias. And even with a misdiagnosed hernia, he was still one of the better players in junior. Can't blame him for that. Once again, not injury prone, just really unfortunate with regards to injuries.

Yes again really unfortunate.

But dirty hit?!?

In my mind I think it's dirty, but that's only because those boards and seamless glass are not forgiving and if a player is up against the boards and glass and they have their back turned to another, you've got to let up. Wagner didn't. Now, I also understand that most wouldn't call it a dirty hit and that's fine too. However, as I mentioned, those boards and glass are unforgiving now. They don't have the lean to them that they used to have, so now it's like being run into a cement wall.

If the boards and glass were like the old Aud in Buffalo, Patrick doesn't get hurt and everyone is on their way. With the way the boards are now, you've got to let up in that situation. As well, Wagner could have easily stripped the puck from Patrick and when he hit him, Patrick didn't have possession of the puck either. I get it - totally grey area. Most would say fair hit and I totally get it.

Can' play good only playing 8 mins a game, not even getting time on the PP. Why not stick him with a solid vet to learn from instead of destroying his confidence

He’s getting PP time but on the second unit which isn’t very good & counts for a very tiny portion of their production there this year so far.

The Flyers don’t really have many solid vets despite the coach thinking otherwise. I would send him to the WJC’s to get away for a few weeks but I doubt the Flyers do that.

Anyone getting a Thornton/Lecavalier feel from this guy? Highly touted coming into the league, has size but lacks the speed and skating to be an impact player out of the gate.

I think baring injuries he will be fine long-term.

The type of core injury he's recovering from takes a full year to really get back into shape. Both Giroux and Ghostibehere had it and had awful years last year but have rebounded nicely this year. I expect him to be a step slow this year and be a totally different player next season.

He never displayed near the amount of offensive talent those two did in junior. Really don't see a comparison between them and him.

It's amazing to look back at the trajectory of Nico and Nolan the last 12 months. Nico came out of nowhere and has continued an upward trajectory and has separated himself considerably from Nolan. I just hope Nolan gets back to 100% health so we can see what he has to offer. Injuries have really detailed him the last 12 to 18 months.

I may be crazy, but I'm not 100% sure he'd make the WJR team with the way he is skating right now. Another thing I've noticed is how short he tends to keep his shifts and how winded he often looks when he comes off the ice. It seems he's still getting his lungs back as well. I'm keeping my expectations low for him this year and assume he's going to get very sheltered NHL minutes until next year. But I've seen enough of his play making and that quick release / shot to still be very excited about his future.

A Thornton/Lecavalier career would be incredible.

I am getting more of a Nazem Kadri vibe. I think he will be a good 40-50pt guy who will learn to play excellent defensively. Ideal 2nd line C.

If they are just going to play him 8 minutes a game or in general less than 13, they should loan him to Canada and send him back to Brandon. No point in keeping him around if a coach is going to ignore development to coach for his immediate job.
