Nicolas Roy looks like a top-5 QMJHL prospect for the upcoming NHL draft, and was the Q 1st overall pick in 2013.

He is very big at 6'4, 202lbs and displays great speed, acceleration and turning. He has soft hands for such a big guy and is a solid playmaker. His two-way play is very good, likes to forecheck hard, hits often and is very responsible defensively.

Offensively, not sure if he'll ever be an NHL game-breaker, but he has solid vision, good passing ability and can obviously crash the net. I'm not sure about his shooting yet, gotta see him more.

Overall, should be a 1st rounder next June, and could end up being a valuable 2nd line C that can play in all situation, displays great skating and has amazing size.

He wouldn't be the first player with size having trouble playing on Chicoutimi Olympic rink. Others had troubles adapting previously, they were traded and developed elsewhere (Jeremy Grégoire, Joël Champagne). No wonder most players they have developed recently are midgets.

That's only my theory but will Roy prove me right again?

He was super underwhelming against Halifax. A player his size and skill set should not be playing a perimeter game. He just had no drive for the net.

Can anyone clarify what this is referring to?

To quote Connor McDavid from his interview with Bob McKenzie:
"It's just wrong to be honest. You put yourself ahead of the game and it can never be like that. To 'select' where you're going to go, it's not fair. There's a draft for a reason. The team picks the best available player and for the player to say 'I don't want to go there, I only want to go there' it's not right."

Roy didn't really want to pick a team in particular, he just wanted to attend french school.

There is a french school very close to the rink, think it was a bit more then that to be honest. It may have just been schooling though, his father was the main reason for him staying in Quebec if I remember correctly.

The return the Eagles got for him they should cheer for him instead of boo him the next time he plays here though, I'd do that trade any day of the week and 2x on Sunday.

As of now the Eagles made out like bandits in that trade and brought in a legitimate looking star in Evgeny Scechnikov who is performing at a level Roy should be.

Definitely but it shouldn't excuse the original nonsense.

CB received:
-Loik Leveille (2016 Chicoutimi 1st flipped)
-Pierre-Luc Dubois (5th overall compensation pick)
-Michael O'Leary (2014 1st from Chictouimi via Drummondville/Baie-Comeau)
-Jonathan Deschamps (2nd round compensation pick flipped with Bureau & Page)
-and the still to be named 2015 1st round pick.

I don't think Roy was expected to play at the level Scechnikov is playing now. He is playing his way into high first round territory.

It was about Cegep, not high school.

Given his age, he's in Cegep right now.

He wanted to stay in the Quebec school system. His two parents are teachers I think.

Both were projected as large, highly-touted forwards. They do have some similarities.

I know who they both are, after watching Roy last year I cannot see him playing at the level (2.0 ppg) Svechnikov has been playing at.

It wasn't until the Hlinka camp that I thought Roy had a very good chance to become a top 10, dominant player. He was the same exact dominating puck ragger that he was at the U17, and showed he was the same guy at a level higher a half year later.

The season is still young, and maybe all the pieces aren't clicking yet for Roy, but he was never at the level of Svechnikov. Svechnikov was a clear tier ahead of Roy at the very least. There was a hold up in rating him highly from NA agencies - may be the reason other EUR are defecting at a higher rate.
