Always great when a toolsy project seems to figure it all out. I was a tad worried but always knew he had the potential to be a very good pro.

Still a ton to be proven, but he was as good or better than some 1st rounders in the CHL this season.

He's taken some nice steps since being drafted which is nice to see. I'll say this with that caveat that I've only really seen him in "limited" viewings in training camp and pre-season. His skating looked pretty subpar to me and I think it would have to improve to be an effective NHL player. I'm not saying he needs to become a great skater, but like Victor Rask did, he needs to become "good enough" so that the rest of his skills can be utilized.

I'd look to someone who watches him in the Q to provide more meaningful feedback.

I don't get to see him live often, but I think people need to remember he was a first overall pick in the QMJHL because of the potential offensive upside he showed in AAA but didn't quite fulfill those expectations when he made the jump to junior.
Last year he broke out and started to show why he was so highly rated when he was younger and is looking like he could be a steal in the 4th round.
This season he is doing nothing but solidifying himself as one of Carolina's top prospects.
He is 11th in league scoring despite playing in 5 fewer games on a middle of the pack team.

When he kept dropping, I was screaming for the Devils to take a chance on him. Later in the draft, might as well roll the dice and see if it works out. Kid has plenty of talent. Great pickup for CAR.

Good for him.

He was a good soldier while in the CAR system and a key cog to the Calder Cup team in Charlotte last year. He seems to have gotten faster, which bodes well for him potentially sticking in the NHL. He could end up a beast of a 4th line C.
