MacKinnon did play on a better team but he's still the better player.

ppl vastly overstate the effect of linemates, usually.

Sitting at a desk.
Imagine getting Casey Mid 6th or later, like some of these lists have him ranked? Now that would be a nice pick for a team in that range.

Nico will end up in Philly I think.

I'm 100% sure the Devils are going to pick Nico even though I don't think it's the right pick. After seeing Nico get handled along the boards in the WJC I'm just not sold on him. From all video I have watched Nolan is the better defensive player, has a better wrist shot, has superior vision, distributes the puck more often, and has the higher hockey IQ. When I watch Nico I see a guy who tries to do too much, too often. Almost every Nico highlight is him driving the net in some way or form.

He didn't get handled along the boards in WJC, if anything he did an excellent job of using his body as leverage to spin off checks.

I'm a Nolan fan too but in no way does he have superior vision, distributes the puck more, nor does he necessarily have the higher hockey IQ. He can create offense in so many ways, an extremely versatile offensive threat. Also, don't discount his defensive ability. He was excellent defensively here and has shown a high willingness to be a two-way player.

Yea, that was one of the most mind boggling posts I've read in a while. I think Hockey I.Q is close, and Nico is most definitely the better defensive player. I also have no idea what he's talking about in regards to the World Juniors, where Nico was dynamic.

True nicos defensive play is what hes best at. He was 1 of only 3 players on his team to pass the 20 goal mark this season. He also was the only player on his team to have a positive +/- by having a +20. The next highest teammate had a -1

Since many Flyers fans are on the page. I will say he reminds me of Simon Gagné.

I kinda disagree, their style is different. But if he can get a prime of Simon Gagné's prime level, I'd be happy with the outcome.

Yes, if he's only Gagne, we'll take it! He looks more like Backstrom to me, but I've onl seen Top Prospects game and highlights. Whatever the comparisons, he's going to be a very good player I'm either going to love as a Flyer, or hate as a Devil. :)

My best friends dog walkers clients' mother in laws's second cousin twice removed once high fived Nico and said he's going to be taken #1 by the Devils.

dog walker has a hell of a work ethic if he also manages clients on the part-time

Hischier reminds me a lot of Elias when I watch him.

Solid all-around player with a knack for creating time and space for himself and his teammates with nifty movements/moves.

Was really surprised by the combine measurements. Only half inch and 10 pound difference between Patrick and Hishier

Nolan was more than 20 lbs heavier, not 10.

Yeah but Nico can always add some muscles..

The small height difference surprised me too, people always described Nolan as the big, steady C while Hischier was described as the smallish/skilled type of forward.

I wonder how much speed and explosiveness Nico will lose by adding 10 lbs, but he definitely has the foundation to be an elite allrounder in this league one day.

I didn't say that Nico couldn't add weight. I just pointed out that the guy I quoted had his stats wrong in that the weight difference when they were measured at the combine was not 10 lbs. It was more than 20 lbs.

Yeah my bad, was meant to be a response to the same post you answered.
Everything fine with your statement.
