C Mason McTavish - Peterborough Petes, OHL (2021, 3rd, ANA)

no lol. Nobody gives a crap about the 40th pick in this draft tbh with you. It just wouldn’t be worth it.

Yeah I highly doubt Detroit with 9 picks in the first four rounds, including 5 in the first and second will want to move down to acquire more picks. They'll probably just take the guy they want at 6 because they need studs, not solid players

Maybe Stevie Y trades down to the 12-15 range and collects another second? What if Hughes drops to 6, and the Canucks come calling to offer 9 + 40 for 6?

Your first sentence is way off value for any draft. Your second suggestion is probably value but I think that would be a draft floor decision based on who has gone.

9 and 40 for 6 in my book you have to also add a good prospect to get 6 because 40 aint enough ...

I think this is a great pick. His game is perfectly suited to modern-day NHL, especially the playoffs. Big, well-rounded center who isn't afraid to get his nose dirty, he's great around the net, very smart and does all the little things right. A lot to like there. Him and Zegras will be a top tier 1-2 punch in the future.

How is he on the power play? How good is his shot and one timee? Ducks need an elite right handed shot to play alongside zegras on the pp. That could be a big factor in adding him because Zegras is great at controlling the play and finding guys that are open and he plays on the opposite side.

I'd put him in front of the net. Good hands. He has good size, he's strong, and should be able to tip pucks in and make plays in close.

Pretty good but he's played net front over in Switzerland. 4 goals and 1 assist on the PP but he didn't play PP from game 1. He also scored most even strength goals with PP like goals from the slot via deflections or rebounds.

Not a fan of Beniers or McTavish that high. McTavish looks to fill that 2C spot behind Zegras well for a long time if he hits his potential, though. Best of luck.

I’ve been seeing this brought up a bit reading around other places.

in your eyes, what makes Berniers not a wise choice for second overall? I understand that his ceiling is something along the lines of a two-way second line centerman?
