New Jersey already said they're giving up their 1st rounder this year?

They did a year before the draft when there looked to be 30 first round material defensemen.
I don't think he's been having a disappointing year at all, he was coming from a pretty low level of competition, now he's stepping into NCAA hockey against better, older players, where plenty of good prospects struggle as rookies, and he's doing decently well. With that being said, he was considered a reach at 21 last year, if Calgary hadn't taken him there I don't know that any other team would have taken him in the 1st round. This draft is deeper than last year's, I'd guess he'd be a 2nd round pick, but who knows really. On a lot of 2013 mock drafts I've seen guys like Lazar, Hagg, Ristolainen, Gautheir, Rychel, Mantha, Fucale, Duclair, etc. being pegged as roughly 20th-30th overall picks, competition will be very tough this year to even make it into the 1st round.
Not to derail the thread, but Jankowski has been producing against the low-leve college teams and putting up goose-eggs against the top teams. He's been disappointing.
Is he going to to be taking some illegal substances to pack on that type of muscle in one summer?I don't think it would've been fair to expect Jankowski to waltz into the NCAA and put up gaudy numbers. One thing a lot of prospect-watchers don't factor into Jankowski's development is that he grew from 5'7" to 6'3" in the year preceding his selection by Calgary; as a result, he hasn't filled out his frame yet. I believe he weighs in at around 180 lbs now, and you'd typically want someone of his height and position to come in around 200-210 lbs.
Jankowski needs to hit the weights big-time this summer. If he comes into camp having added another 15-20 pounds of muscle, he should be able to impose his will on the ice.

That's almost impossible, natural, fyi.

Anyway, I'd have Jankowski in my mid-2nd this year.
Judging by the fact the Flames will get a top three pick, I guess he would go top three. If the Flames weren't drafting, he would probably be a mid second or early third.
Mid 2nd, which is where he should have went last year.
Has his play in college raised his stock at all?
Stat-wise it doesn't really look like it (granted I assume he is playing less minutes)
Deep draft, I doubt he sees the 1st round. Mid second maybe? If the flames were so high on him, maybe the 31st-34th pick.

0.53 points per game if I recall correctly, which isn't too bad for a guy who went from HS to NCAA, although I'm not sure if that's enough to wow scouts with his progress.
Hohoho, congratulations! You made it before the 100th person in this thread to make the very same joke. Hurrah.
Keep that bag on your head, objective and humorous fan of the Flames' rival team, I'm sure the look improves your appearance to a great degree. But, not to be mean, it seems a little out of date. I hear plastic is the new material of fashion. I just sincerely hope that the bag doesn't represent shame in your favourite team, for your sake. I just can't imagine doing the same. There's no pride in that, unless of course you are indeed wearing it for cosmetic reasons. In which case, my eyes thank you for the courtesy.
There is no way the Flames would pick Jankowski with their first pick in 2013. We're talking one of Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin or Barkhov. Remember, they traded down from 14th to 21st to get MJ last year, because they knew he would be there and they knew they only had a mid-round pick to start with. Weisbrod was very high on him, so they decided to swing for the fences.
In this year's draft they would probably try to go for him with St. Louis' pick.
Doesn't make it any less true. I'm so excited for this years draft, when Feaster goes off the board again rather than drafting Mackinnon or Jones.
Jankowski mentioned on twitter a few weeks ago than he was less than 170 pounds. That is unreal at 6'4". It's amazing he can skate.

Keep in mind Feaster was prepared to take Murphy before Carolina snagged him right before us, so it's not like Sven was our guy all along.
