He hasn't yet scored 30 in an OHL season and we are talking about him as if he's going to extrapolate well to the NHL..

He havent played the full schedule plus in the NHL they play more games then in junior.

Without any excuses for why he can't reach 30 goals with less games played. Many of the goals he scores is easily translated to the pro game.

As far as playing style comparable I'd say Jamie Benn is the closest. In their draft +1 seasons Benn put up 1 more point in the same amount of gp.

He'll score 30, I'm pretty sure of that much. You don't shoot the puck that hard with that much accuracy and not score in bunches. You should see the body language on some of the goalies he gets the puck by. They don't have time to move.

Benn, Getzlaf and Staal are the 3 names ive saw... devils fans are setting themselves up. I see Blake Wheeler, a very good player

Due to lack of games played. He scored 16 in 37 games last season (29 goal pace) and 28 in 51 games this season (37 goal pace). Overall he has 0.5 goals per game in his first 88 games in North America. It's not amazing, but it's solid.

The name I first heard was James Neal, but I'd be thrilled with Wheeler too.

I actually like him more than Neal.... but i can see the comparison... both guys have all the tools in the world but have so-so hockey IQ. Id take Zacha in a heart beat over any of our forward prospects

Well, he only played 37 games last year and he's 2 goals away from 30 this year, so...

Going top 10 in the draft and barely scoring 30 goals in your D+1 year is hardly encouraging for a guy who is described as having an incredible pro-level shot, so...

Except he needs to generate shots to take advantage of his shooting ability and he isn't elite at that either. With his skills he should have gotten over 200 sog, yet he only had 163, almost all the top 2015 picks in the OHL killed that total.

He has not even played a full junior season either.

You're absolutely right that he needs to shoot more. With how good his shot is he is going to score when he shoots, and he needs to do it more.

His issue isn't talent, it's consistency. He's a young player and he's developed some bad habits. Whatever, he's young and dumb. It happens.

But I'm confident that with proper coaching at the next level he'll shake off the bad habits and develop into the player we need him to be.

Does he make the Devils next year....or another year in the OHL?

Not sure if another year in the OHL would be worthwhile. Before this season i remember hearing some loophole, (that since he was technically in the Czech Pro League, and "on loan" to Sarnia), that he might be eligible for the AHL? Can anyone else confirm that?

I would definitely like to see him make the jump to pro hockey.

I think he makes the Devils. Our forward depth is pretty poor and even if we start him on the 3rd line it should be worth it for his development. Get him here and working with our staff asap.

Pretty sure Bill Daly squashed that and ruled he was an OHL draftee. Before this season there was a debate about where he was actually drafted from since he was on loan to Sarnia.

The small sample where he wasn't producing well (but still around a ppg) is enough for you to condemn him, but a small sample where he is dominant isn't enough for you to admit he might just be a good player.

I have been down on his offensive upside after his entire junior career. That's not a small sample size ha-ha.

Those first 3 names should be just be the list of guys Zacha watches video of. I think most Devils fans have more realistic expectations about what he will become. I like the Wheeler and Neal comparisons. Maybe a young Milan Michalek as well.
