 First time I've seen him play, but 3 years of this kid in the Q will be entertaining. He looks good! Know there was an uproar regarding his status but hopefully he can raise his level and silence his critics.

Wonder if he can hit 50 points this year.

He has some wheels for an underager!

I doubt he hits the 50 points mark. He's playing on the 3rd line and I doubt he plays more than 3rd line minutes with limited PP.. Unless there are any injuries, I think he'll hit something like 40 points.

Very well executed goal
Got to love his patience with that goal, and I sure his adrenaline must of been working overtime , good speed looks very comfortable /

Way to Go Joseph from all of us in the West Island

He wouldn't be the top player in the nb/pei major midget hockey league this year.
He's a solid young player but how much does professional exposure and the hype train
play a factor in to him being in the q this season?

he wouldnt be the top player....i think you should check your sources on that again, Veleno would destory that league. PEI is not a strong league at all and NB is so so for talent....Veleno would be the top player in both leagues and by a far margin as well....not even a contest.

He'd absolutely dominate NBPEIMMHL. The 2nd top scorer from last season went in the 2nd round of the Q draft. Veleno would tear the league apart. He's more than good enough to be an effective Q player this year.

Those are two of the worst 'top tier' leagues in the country. I'm sure he'd destroy them.

I can tell you that you guys are correct about that in regards to MAAA I know this for a fact from experience sometimes its better playing out there and get a better opportunity in getting noticed

Joe would do well no question about it

I am with you with the hype issue , but I think he would do well, lets watch and see when the Rookies return back from the NHL camps and see how things change up right now its like a MAAA game due to all of the 99's playing

He'd face better comp in QC midget espoir than in those leagues.

EspoiR ? Cmon....it's a complete mess that level and would not be surprised if it's the last yr and its abolished
No way is mAAA maritimes worse than espoir

espoir team could not even beat a major bantam team in Toronto

It's one league for one, and he would destroy it.

Yes, obviously you're completely correct.

I knew that, but forgot and wasn't thinking.

But my point is still the same - I'm critical of Veleno getting EC (I regard HC's motivation in awarding it in most cynical terms) - but having said that, I don't think he'd have any trouble dominating that league.

Halifax and Moncton were both missing 3 players (2 D from Halifax and 1 from Moncton). Given that Veleno was playing top line C for those games (and will either be 2C or 3C depending on the Joseph - Dove - Imama line), he was facing at worst the same calibre of players he will face all year and possibly was facing better competition.

He has insane wheels. Completely blew around Taillefer around 3:18. If he keeps that up and grows more confident he'll be very successful this year.

Literally the biggest Trolling comment ive seen in a week or more. Clearly you havent had enough Wheaties.

I am going to agree with you they should abolish Espoir out Quebec, and merge cities together to form stronger teams. After which the cost of playing should be at 4.5 to 5K where the players will be on the ice 4 times a week with on and off ice

It is only my opinion that this would develop a lot stronger players. Espoir is a waste of time just like Cegep is while the rest of Canada has grade 12

Which kids get better developed

How good is this kid? A McDavid? A Tavares? A Nugent?

Is there anyone in his age group close to his talent level right now?

He is a talenteted hockey player, but to comapre him to any of these players is laughable. He is not a generational talent. Veleno got exceptional status by threatening to go to the U.S. He could have easily played another year of MAAA. He is a very good plAyer but the hype is greatly exaggerated. That said, I wish him luck and hope he has a great year.

dont want to rehash this debate but in my opinion and based on "potential value" to a team
and north american skaters

1. Bode Wilde
2. Jake Wise
3.Joseph Veleno
4. Jared Mcisaac
5. Benoit Groulx
