He should sign a contract with one of European professional leagues. Even a weaker one like Czech (which isn't that weak actually) is still much better than CHL. And there are other advantages: earning some money, getting used to being adult, seeing the world.

That is not allowed. Would have to be released by his OHL team.

Very jealous of Flyers fans. He's definitely a year away, and would benefit playing in top level jr competitions, along with developing his shot. But the combo of athleticism, vision, and intelligence is there. Don't rush him, or you'll end up with stunting him like my Isles did with Josh Bailey. Similar places in development - dealing with NHL physicality at 18 can create a tentativeness that lasts.

Zero reason to rush him too, Laughton is the 3C right now anyways.

Anything more than a 9 game trial is a mistake. Who knows what Couts could have been if he wasn’t thrown into the 3C defensive position as an 18 year old. They better not stunt Luchanko’s offense
Couts peaked as a selke-winning 1C. I think he turned out fine.

But I agree Luchanko should go back to juniors. Don't want him to not develop offense like Sillinger.

It took him forever to get respectable offense though and he was pigeonholed in as a defensive specialist for years. Maybe he would have a higher offensive ceiling if he was developed properly

Because he didn't get PP usage.

Ya it was almost like couturier was pigeonholed as a defensive guy or something.

That being said I don't think that Luchanko is the offensive prospect that he was even with his outstanding camp he probably ends up back in junior but it's torts so maybe he plays him more and sit Michov as that sounds like a Torts mindf**k season.

Yeah but the Flyers ruined his development badly, he was an offensive beast in juniors, and then they stunted him by not letting him dominate more and come to the NHL as a more confident / polished prospect.

I mean he shut down Malkin in the playoffs as an 18 year old. I can hardly blame the flyers for keeping a guy that can shut down one of the best players in the game at the time.

Already chatter from Kevin Kurz and Jeff Marek he'll be traded from Guelph to a contender this year. A lot of these trades happen right after the would Juniors!
