C Jack Hughes - USNTDP (2019, 1st, NJD) Part 6

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. I'm on neither side here, but objectively speaking Kakko has been pretty bad so far. Like, bad bad. Not just not putting up points, but bad in every way. It's fine. He'll get there. At the moment though all those pumping up Kakko are probably feeling a bit sheepish at the moment.

We get this every year from SOME Finnish fans. Their prospects are the next reincarnation of Gretzky.

- Grandlund is the best player in the draft !
- Barkov is better than everyone !
- Laine is better than Mathews!
- How did Puljujarvi fall to 4th?Dubois sucks !
- Kakko is better than Hughes because Hughes is small and Kakko played against men!

The list goes on and on.

Not saying other countries don't hype their guys but Finnish fans in my opinion take it to another level

As a Finnish i agree. We dont get that many crazy prospects and finns who gather here tend to be hardcore fans.

and the funny thing is going back through all those "Jack Hughes is a bust" threads - sooooo much was deleted, that unless you were there posting in it (which I was since day 1), you truly have no clue how much horrible shit was being said against Hughes..it was embarrassing. going through those threads now simply does zero justice to the amount of trash that Hughes went through. the Kakko thread had NOTHING...absolutely NOTHING bad said about him in any of his threads prior to getting drafted...we stayed out of his thread if we had nothing positive to contribute to him...

Not just that but nationality was often argued as the only reason Matthews, Hughes, etc. were rated above Laine, Kakko, etc. The irony is that nationality was the only reason they made their fevered arguments to begin with.

They seem simply desperate for their first #1 OA pick, as a proof that Finland is an elite hockey nation or whatever. It's just so tiresome for the rest of the people here on the board. I really hope they generate soon enough a #1 pick and Hart winner.

Nice bs here... (1,2,3) No one claimed Granlund to be best at draft, Did you mean Barkov is best at his draft or in NHL? Puljujärvi was ranked as 3rd by majority, so Puljujärvi dropping to 4th was maybe a shock then but right move by Kekäläinen.. He absolutly knew something.

Which is just stupid because regardless of #1OA or Hart trophies, everyone knows Finland is a hockey powerhouse. The number of elite players they churn out on a per capita basis is absolutely astounding.

Pretty good analogy because like American politics there aren't two sides that are equivalent in any way shape or form

It's a shame that some people feel this way because it's not true. But there are however posters that do act like this. And everybody knows who. But they are to be taken with a grain of salt and it's really no need to generalize all finns like this. Because trust me 95% of Finnish HF posters dont do this. It's just that those that do it, post so much like that, that they blow it way out of proportion and make it seem like they the only ones posting because they post like 15 posts a row with a wall of text and other comment here and there like a normal person you know what i'm saying?
