Here are the top 20 centers in Giveaways last year....Can't give it away that much unless you always have the puck ;) That's pretty damn good company.

Barzal
Larkin
McDavid
Malkin
Getzlaf
Eichel
Tavares
Domi
Barkov
Zibanejad
Duchene
Crosby
A.Matthews
R.Johansen
MacKinnon
S. Aho
L. Eller
Backstrom
Kuznetsov
Tierney

Surprise surprise... noticeable players who have the puck a lot and tend to make plays turn over the puck a lot... hockey 101

Oh man, is this true?
I mean, everyone makes mistakes, but when you go out on such a limb because you can't handle Laine not being viewed as the top prospect, its comical. Here is the post in question.

Auston Matthews will be a bust.
- a type of bust who will have a long career
but didn't match his high excpectations what
was set for him. why?

Heres why, prior to draft year:
-played in the best team in NLA,Swiss league
-was coached by NA head coach
-scored 24 goals,49 points in 40 games
-had 8 penalty minutes
-scored 20 points in 17 international games (wjc u20,wc)

Has shined for USNTDP juniors (USHL),USNT u18 team (USDP)
world juniors (u20,u18),was good, not great at last worlds.

Did not dominate last season in the NLA,i know many so claim
that he did,but scoring 49 points in 40 games in the NLA
isn't dominating, even if you are 18 going 19 and NA.

I predict he'll be 3rd line two-way center at best,
900 career games 120+ goals,450+ points.

Predict A Bust

Devil fans are guilty of this too when they get pissy at Hall turning pucks over.

It’s a byproduct of players like this. More people need to just sit back and enjoy the show

Hmm didn't realize he was going to end up there, I hope he at least has a few years playing with Quinn after we acquire him in New Jersey before leaving.

It's all in jest but the Hughes brothers will inevitably play together at one point in their careers like the Niedermeyers. I'm betting it will be on the Canucks and without a doubt will aggressively pursue him when he is a UFA in 7 years.

I understand, I was jesting back.

... quinn becomes a UFA first, and they're american. they can live in NYC together. what appeal does Vancouver have?

You are both wrong. They'll play for the franchise they grew up cheering for and the city they were raised in after the Leafs trade up and draft Luke Hughes in 2021.....

Idk, he went from playing with kids on the ice, to now living and playing with them at home. I think it would be better for his development at this point to live with men....

There was this ESPN segment with Jason Arnott circa 2000 and part of it was about how he was living with Scott Stevens and his family. Arnott admitted that he had no idea how to cook for himself and had eaten poorly (and gotten out of shape) over time in Edmonton. As I was watching that, I was a college sophomore who had instant ramen for dinner way more frequently than I should have. Arnott noted that it was beneficial to eat better plus he saw the work ethic that Stevens had off the ice.

From that point, I kinda understood the benefits for an 18/19 year old rookie to kinda get eased into the off ice routine.

Really liked the anecdote and I agree with what you are saying, but I was joking.

Long-suffering Canucks fan coming in peace. Trading away Cory is one of the many shameful acts our team has committed since 1970, possibly in the top 10 (I realize this may be hotly contested as the Orca have many options to choose from).

Reading this article had the effect of both sadness as well as pride in how much a lot of the Canucks fans remember Mr. Schneider. I really hope that he has the historical "bounce back" season now that his hip surgery is 2 years in the rearview mirror (Thank you Pearl Jam).

Anyway, I know this is a Hughes Thread so I'll further my thoughts that I really respect the approach of NJ's Management to utilize their on-ice leaders to facilitate the development of their prospects in a wholistic manner. On ice skill is one thing - Life skill is even more critical IMHO.

Best of luck this season from the West Coast.

Cheers
