eichel has look good at the world, he is just trying to be cute, if he starts shooting more and still stays creative I think he will have a more successful tourney point wise, well that's my two cents.

I don't know if he will start shooting more. He's got an NHL plus shot, but vision and passing ability is absolutely elite. There was one saucer pass I saw today from the low wing, elevated all the way across the front of the net to (Krug?) on the other side of the ice and landed right on his tape. That was something I don't know I've ever seen done in a game situation from boards-to-boards right across the bottom of the box quite like that.

McDavid has that to his game too, just making plays that were unthought-of until he went and did it. The difference between a star center and a true prodigy, is the star players makes plays other players can't make... but the prodigy makes plays other players don't even think to try.

That said, it's nice to see Richards coaching him up and not afraid to use ice time as the carrot and the stick. There was a backcheck late in the 2nd where (Reilly?) directed Eichel to take the wide Slovenian on the left wing, and he didn't, and it resulted in a dangerous chance. Next shift Richards put Arcobello out with Lewis and Nelson. Eichel will need to develop that part of his game, but man, what a toolbox. Elite vision, passing, skating and puck control, and a plus shot and hockey IQ, big and willing to engage. What's not to like about that?

It relates to Eichel because instead of the WHC ice, he'll be on the NHL ice and maybe not being able to make the same sort of moves.

Another great prediction by Ray Ferrraro. Remember when you predicted Eichel would only score at a 0.7 ppg pace in the NCAA? Lmao

I'm predicting something? Pretty sure I'm just saying why that discussion was related to Eichel.

He didn't really, did he? I remember his prediction that McDavid would have 0 pointless games this season, but never saw that . . .

Anyone who thinks the larger ice is making him look better than he actual is needs to give their head a shake. If anything, he's had to adapt his game to it, which is why he's been getting better each game.

They leapfrogged them. Arizona went from likely top-2 and generational forwards to well questions marks and not generational players.

Arizona was never "likely" to get one of the top 2 picks.

The 29th place team only had a 33.5% chance of picking 1st or 2nd.

A 1-in-3 chance isn't "likely."

Odds being what they were, that's why finishing in dead last was so important this season. 2nd last was always likely to get screwed.

WHAT. ARE. YOU. TALKING. ABOUT.

Again with this anti-Eichel dribble? He played in the NCAA this year. Almost every rink in North America is the same size. He's played on NHL sized ice and dominated. Stop making excuses.

I think that you have missed the thread related to this part of the discussion. No one is knocking Eichel.

What does that have to do with anything? Liking a player shouldnt be because of nationality outside of the Olympics. This isnt a Canada vs. US thing.

Don Cherry has really conditioned some of you, hasnt he?

But Hanifin is from the US and he's technically a BC boy, so can Toronto pick him? :sarcasm:

Have you finished. I made that statement because I'm from Ottawa as well. I made no negative remark concerning Jack Eichel in that post so what is the problem.

I agree with very little Don Cherry ever says if it's any of your business.

In fact Don Cherry and the stereotypical ugly American have much in common. :shakehead

People are getting needlessly defensive, the comment was harmless. That said there are a few usual suspects who frequent these threads to take jabs at US players and leagues. Globalization is proving tough on them.

I see what you mean though. I played on a mixture of NA and Olympic ice growing up, and being somewhat fast (relatively speaking) I preferred the time and space I had on the big ice. Could mask other flaws in my game just through skating.

I agree that there are just as many rude Canadians on here. My opinions seem to have led to me being being attacked personally by a small number of posters. You know the internet tough guy type.

Pleased that you have personally experienced my thoughts on the big ice vs. the NHL size. You must have played the game at some higher level. :handclap:

anyone else get the impression that the perception a cpl months ago was McDavid>=Eichel>>Strome/Hanifan/Marner and now its McDavid>Eichel>Hanifan/MArner>=Strome

Nope.

It's McDavid> Eichel.

Eichel >>>> Hanifan > Strome = Marner

 Not really, it just so happened that figured skaters trained at my rink and one of the three surfaces was Olympic sized. Some of the guys including myself always preferred / seemed to fare better on the bigger ice. Not that we were "lesser players", I would say, but our skill sets or playing styles for whatever reason seemed more suited to it.

We've seen Eichel play on both. Obviously a guy with his skating is going to flourish on big ice, but watching him in the NCAA it's clear he's also dominant when cycling or grinding it out on the smaller ice.

It's really just Strome who seems to have moved, and I'm not sure how much of that is knee-jerk reactions. One six point night and he's a strong contender for 3rd, a bad series (potentially playing injured) and there's suddenly significant concerns about his skating / upside.

Man this kid will be so good

I could see him and Kane making a good pair. Lotta speed and size. Plus Eichel feeding Kane will be money

Sabres fans are arguing about

Evander Kane-Jack Eichel- Tyler Ennis

vs

Evander Kane-Jack Eichel- Zemgus Girgensons

The first gives you top end speed across the line and lots of points off the rush.

The second looks unstoppable at 2-way play and creating opportunities by possessing the puck in the offensive zone.

I would go option 2. Thats a very balanced line

The free up Ennis to play with Reinhart and spread the wealth and offense
