eichel has look good at the world, he is just trying to be cute, if he starts shooting more and still stays creative I think he will have a more successful tourney point wise, well that's my two cents.
I don't know if he will start shooting more. He's got an NHL plus shot, but vision and passing ability is absolutely elite. There was one saucer pass I saw today from the low wing, elevated all the way across the front of the net to (Krug?) on the other side of the ice and landed right on his tape. That was something I don't know I've ever seen done in a game situation from boards-to-boards right across the bottom of the box quite like that.
McDavid has that to his game too, just making plays that were unthought-of until he went and did it. The difference between a star center and a true prodigy, is the star players makes plays other players can't make... but the prodigy makes plays other players don't even think to try.
That said, it's nice to see Richards coaching him up and not afraid to use ice time as the carrot and the stick. There was a backcheck late in the 2nd where (Reilly?) directed Eichel to take the wide Slovenian on the left wing, and he didn't, and it resulted in a dangerous chance. Next shift Richards put Arcobello out with Lewis and Nelson. Eichel will need to develop that part of his game, but man, what a toolbox. Elite vision, passing, skating and puck control, and a plus shot and hockey IQ, big and willing to engage. What's not to like about that?
