What I don't understand is why this question keeps popping up re: Eichel and not McDavid. Both have the size and skill to play in the NHL immediately IMO.

Edit: This is not someone whose physical maturity I would worry about:

It's not physical maturity that I'm questioning. It toughness. It doesn't matter what size you are or how strong you are. If you're a ***** you're a *****. I'm not necessarily saying that Eichel is I'm just asking the question.

I see the necessary toughness in Eichel. Yeah, he has a plastic mask over his face in the NCAA but your face isn't what takes the real abuse in hockey on a shift-to-shift basis. He was a target every game and it didn't keep him from sitting on the puck, shielding defenders off. What I do agree with of what you said earlier is that he needs to work on his consistency off the puck. He does float sometimes while his defensive engagement is inconsistent. It's not any more of an issue than it was with other top guys over the past many years though and they all jumped right to the NHL.

Eyecul is going to look good with Kane.

Butfalo could have somthjng special when you think of Reinhart and Girgensons. That's like having 2 Patrice Bergerons

I don't think anything pisses me off more that using a street word for female genitalia as a way to call someone soft.

That's beside the point, Eichel played against men this year and he was dominant. He's extremely physical not only in terms of puck protecting but also in terms of actual physicality. I've watched probably 10-15 BU games and a bunch of WJC/highlight packages and I've never seen him back down from going into the corners.

I've seen him coast around/float but never have I seen him straight up back down

Not saying he's not a good player but I wonder if Eichel is really ready. He seems quite passive on the ice and I wonder if he has ever been punched in the nose. NCAA is quite a different animal in my opinion.

I hope this is a satirical post.

This kid will be great. I don't think he will explode onto the scene next year though.
Tons of skill but he may run into trouble when teams key in on him and he isn't head and shoulders better than everyone else. I only saw him play a couple times and half of BUs strategy was to get him the puck and let him do whatever. Well he won't be able to dangle through everyone all the time going against NHL dmen. Also I saw him lose some not so tough physical battles and he went down easy. Nothing this kid won't be able to work on and turn into a great player.
He's got elite IQ and skill, great skater so if he has the motor and the determination he could be a great player for a long time.

Doubt it. Blue collar kid from a blue collar family from right outside Boston. Dad got interviewed during frozen 4 and looked like a rough and tumble dude.

I don't think he needs to follow that strategy to be effective. He didn't dangle around everyone (anyone?) at the WJHC, he just protected the puck and distributed it well.

He's already bigger and stronger than some NHLers who excel at protecting the puck so that part of his game shouldn't suffer too much even if he can't dangle as effectively.

In terms of comparable, which NHL would you compare Eichel? He reminds me Jonathan Toews at the same age. Also Joe Nieuwendyk as a comparable nhler. I heard also Getzlaf but he isn't built like him in terms of physically aspect. Any input?

There really isn't a comparable in the current NHL, Getzlaf is a pretty bad one but people seem to use. Mike Modano is the closest I can think of. But it still isn't a great comparable either.

Eichel is such a unique player with multiple A+ qualities in his game.
