What a player. The combination of size, speed and hands. He looks like Spezza

I've been a huge McDavid fanboy since he was like 14, but I gotta say Eichel is becoming one of my favourite players in the league. Watched multiple preseason games and last nights game, and what an effin player. This coming from a sens fan as well. As much as it sucks to play against him it will be nice to see him often over the next decade. Excited for you buffalo fans cause he truly is a Franchise player.

McDavid definitely has a better top speed. I would say Mackinnon is clearly faster. Duchene is debatable.

I timed Eichel's goal vs Toronto against MacKinnon's vs NYI. From just before the red line to the hashmarks, Eichel was faster. 2.95 seconds vs 3.02 seconds, and he took 6 strides vs MacKinnon's 7/8.

That's obviously not a glaring difference, but lol at anyone who claims that anyone is "clearly" faster than Eichel.

Dan Bylsma's been around the game for a pretty long time. He said he's never seen anyone skate like Eichel. And that was before he was his coach in Buffalo.

Guys like MacKinnon and McDavid look faster because they take more strides, but Eichel is the fastest.

Spezza was never this fast.

Agree with the size, reach and hands.

I don't see all the hype behind him, looked pretty mediocre last night.

The Sens did a pretty good job of playing a stifling road game for those first two periods.

Getting the lead early certainly helps.

The dam broke in the 3rd though.

He played more than 20 mins. Bylsma love this kid and the fit is natural. Eichel with Ennis and Kane could be amazing.

Saying he didn't live up to expectations in that game would be one thing, but saying he looked mediocre is pretty ridiculous. He was a clear star player, if not superstar player, in the 3rd period.

Eichel suffers from Patrick Marleau syndrome. His strides are just so long and powerful, it doesn't look like he's working as hard as he could be, even when he'd blowing by everyone.

He's Usain Bolt of hockey.

He didn't look good (neither did his team) in the 1st two periods, in the third he picked it up along with the whole team. It's too small to judge though, clearly has room to be better.

Looked better than McDavid. How is that even possible? McDavid is in a completely different dimension, right?

Eichel got the goal but I didn't think he looked better. I thought they both had their 2-3 really good chances in the 3rd period and definitely played their both hockey but in the 1st + 2nd Eichel seemed trapped in his own end the whole time while McDavid looked better in the 1st half. Neither played their best though.

Just my opinion.

Eichel's stride reminds me of how I feel when I'm walking on the conveyor belt at the airport next to people who are not on it.

this made me laugh but also nailed it. watched a lot of him and he didn't look himself in the first 2 periods, looked like he was just playing it safe in his first nhl game. but the third, especially after he scored he looked like the best player on the ice, and it wasnt close

Wow....What a goal.

Goal was great but the power and control to keep the puck in was more impressive.
