When Bragin, who likes tough hockey, invites Manukyan, who is probably smaller than Gaudreau, and not Shvyryov, it makes me even more uncertain.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. Many players don't make their U20 team. There are a lot of factors that could go into that happening. It's not going to determine or dictate how his developmental years go.

It's all about what he does now, especially in larger sample sizes - posters put so much value on that tournament. He tore up the MHL last year, and is getting a KHL shot this year, albeit, on a strong team from what I hear.

Anyone have news on this prospect? Hard to find updated info.

Will he ever come over to try the NHL? Does he have a chance to play at the NHL level based on his talent?

That's difficult to say. I mean, his perspectives. As to info, he's played 30 KHL games this season with 1 goal scored (and 3:25 average TOI) and 10 MHL games with 5+12. He's too good for the MHL, but somehow hasn't found himself in the KHL yet.

Does he have a contract where he can't leave for North America? Playing an average of 3mins a game in the KHL and being too good for the MHL seems really pointless to still be in Russia at this point. Especially if his main goal is to play in the NHL.

His contract expires after this season.

From the article it seems the Avs keep in contact with him and he says he would definitely attend development/training camps. I wouldn't be surprised if they try and get him in the AHL for next season.

If I were the Avs, I'd definitely be pushing to have him over in the AHL next year. This year feels wasted in terms of development. Playing 3 mins a game in the KHL is stupid and pointless.

Hope he makes the jump overseas next year - it's best for his game.

Well, out of all Russians, who have given up the efforts to make the KHL and moved to NA, Kucherov is the only one, who made the NHL... Those, who seek for easy ways, usually fail to find any ones.

This is true...as long as we ignore Radulov, Zadorov, Provorov, and every other counter-example...

All of them came to NA pretty early, when they were far away from the KHL. You should look at players like Kirill Kabanov, Maxim Shalunov, Paigin, Abramov, Rubtsov, Kamenev and more.

It is really unclear what you are trying to assert. Abramov came over younger than Radulov.

How many players at junior age is playing on KHL with solid ice time? Isn´t that also one of reasons, why many leaving for NA leagues?

You and your facts. Next thing you know you'll be bringing up how Kamenev & Rubtsov aren't actually busts, despite that interfering with the narrative.

Alright, I didn't check Radulov before, but it looks like he did like Kucherov. Still, two players aren't whole lot, I'd say.

Don't forget Vladislav Nemestnikov who came over for his draft year and has worked out very well for a 27th overall pick.

Mikhail Sergachev, also looking good.

What about those who just stayed in Russia and never came over because they wouldn't crack an NHL roster. You don't count those? I guess not because that wouldn't fit your narrative?

Vladdy isn't a good example. He spent the first 8 years of his life in the USA. Very different situation from most Russians.

Sergachyov is a defenseman. Shvyryov is a forward. The success rate isn't great for defenseman, but its much better than forwards.

Sergachev and Namestnikov weren't close to fighting for a place on the KHL roster, when they came over. Shvyrev is almost 20. He's more like Vorobyov, Guryanov, Rubtsov, Paigin.

And then I'm starting to worry about Klim Kostin, he doesn't look that great in the AHL, and he was so good at WJC.

So the argument is NA has ruined these Russian prospects because they aren't playing them 3 mins a game?

Bust status confirmed :sarcasm:

I know I'm going to be pissed when Greer-Kamenev-Shvyryov is going to start the season as our top line in Loveland instead of Greer & Kamenev anchoring our 4th line in the NHL...but man could the Eagles be fun for me to watch next season with Shvyry, Lewis & Timmins coming aboard, as well as Meloche & Beaudin taking that year two step...especially if we luck into Kotka at the draft and Mikko him next season.

Nice, it'll be interesting to see his transition to the AHL. He has to be one of the MHL's most prolific scorers since the league started.
