Heating up.

I'm most impressed he's doing this after changing teams after coming back from a 6 month injury layoff.

I think he will be considered a top-3 player of his draft class when all is said and done, especially if he can become a C at the NHL level, something that is uncertain for everyone in the draft aside from Hischier and Patrick. The complete package.

Pettersson has a higher chance of being a C than Vilardi.

Rasmussen is pretty much a lock to be a C.

Playing in his hometown and living at home has probably been good for him too.

He and Day have been really good additions for Kingston. The London boys, not so much as of yet.

Jones is horrendous and has looked even worse in Kingston despite being put into positions to succeed. With his size at age 19, he should be walking all over the competition, but he’s dumb as a brick.

Why do people think he will be a winger in the nhl?
Isn't he a natural center?

Hes not a good enough skater, especially depending on how his injury impacted his skating. Tavares wasnt a great skater though and he is now, Vilardi could improve but doesnt have the wheels right now to do it probably

That's what they said about Bo Horvat...

They say it about lots of guys, some improve enough to make it to the next level. I dont remmeber a single concern about Horvats skating though, his skating is on a different level from Vilardis

i do not see reason to doubt mittelstadt and glass will be centres.

glad for villardi to be playing well. i wonder whether his injury was known to nhl teams on draft day.

His skating concerns are very overblown. His skating is just fine. That said with his skills, he won't be in the bottom 6 and with Kopitar and Carter entrenched up the middle, he will be on the right side with one of those guys lighting it up. Guy is a stud.

I agree with the point regarding his skating concerns. I think he gets around just fine, just doesn't always look super pretty doing it. The main thing I think he could use some work on is his tight turns.

With his skill level and everything that he has, if his skating wasnt a concern at the next level I dont think that many teams would've passed up on him. If he was a really good skater he would've been challenging Hischier in that weak draft for first overall.

It's only one weekend, but it's cool that Vilardi had a hand in 9 of Kingston's 11 goals this weekend (3g, 6a).

Man this thread has got more traction and moment than I thought it would. I'm glad so many see Vilardi's upside. I'll say it again... I wish Ken Holland would have taken him instead of Rasmussen. I guess it's because, to me he was the obvious choice at 9th overall. This will be one where I'll watch the careers of both players. Will I be saying "I told you so", "I guess it didn't matter that much", or "Well, I was wrong."?

Still cant believe he was available at the 11th pick... kings kinda killed it in this draft.

Edit: Thought clague was part of draft class.
