glad to see he is back, performing well and putting up points. I hope he's part of next year's Team Canada defending gold in Vancouver/Victoria. would be awesome.

Kid is incredible, in my humble opinion. He will be best player taken in the 1st round when it's all said and done.

I wouldn't be surprised. Nobody in that draft really separated themselves. Vilardi was one of the youngest guys too and has a lot of skill and smarts. Hischier, Vilardi, Petersson and Necas are who I think will be the top forwards. Kings got a steal with where they grabbed Vilardi.

Totally agree. I'm a wings fan and was pissed when we drafted Rasmussen.

Glad to see he is doing well, was my favorite player in the draft... really hoped Anaheim could find a way to move up and snag him.

Not glad he still is kings property :P

I'm not sure if Vilardi will ever be the takeaway artist or defensive player Stone is, but he is more talented and has a far better shot at the same age.

I see him having the same kind of upside overall. It's absurd that he fell to the Kings at 11.

Definitely seeing the Mark Stone/Corey Perry/Jason Allison stuff with this guy. Big frame, a monster down low, amazing vision/playmaking, relentless when in close, on the wall, or from the circles down. Sort of creates a vacuum of players to him opening up space elsewhere. I'm sure he'll improve, but I still see his skating being an impediment at C at the NHL level. If the Kings and everyone else feel he's NHL ready as of next year, I imagine it's because they're bringing him in to learn as a winger and play to his strengths while he picks up the rest on the job. But I can also see why they'd want him up soonish, learning how to deal with bigger bodies and man strength, because he's already won in juniors and bullying kids isn't going to do much for his power game development.

Seems he's playing Center for the first time since midget? Wonder how this will fit into his future projections.

He would have to make significant skating gains to ever be a center at the NA pro level. I think his future is out on the wing. He is a very talented player, but the reason he fell in my opinion is still there.

He's obviously going to be a good player. My one question mark is about his injury concerns. Some significant injuries already and he's only 18

I guess he'll just have to suit up on Carter's wing... the kid is going to be a boon for us, still can believe he fell but great for us...

They're all pretty different though, no? Reminds me of when we traded for injury prone Justin Williams and he was great for us obviously (lots of random unrelated injuries). Then again, there's Sami Salo. Sometimes the storm cloud just follows you.

This is the guy I wanted at the Canucks pick but I’m not exactly complaining that we ended up with Pettersson lol.

I think he will be a beast, his combination of IQ, size/strength, hands, shot, compete level is scary.

Agreed, that's exactly what I'm saying (and many others that actually pay attention to him).

Of course, he's not listed as an option in the top 10 prospects in hfBoards' polls section so must be an incoming bust :sarcasm:

Compared the leverage that someone like Eeli Tolvanen (overrated prospect on this website) gets, I'll look past Vilardi's skating deficiencies and injury history here. I want that massive upside.

I disagree with your comments about Tolvanen, he is putting up excellent numbers against men in the 2nd best league. I had Vilardi way ahead of him at the draft, but it is really close now.

As for Vilardi,I saw him play around 10 games last year, and his skillset translates perfectly to the NHL.

Even stepped his game up in the biggest stage (Memorial Cup).

Fair enough. I don't mean to derail the thread but I'm personally not as high on Tolvanen as the consensus.
