I love Pettersson and hope the Wings take him at 9, but just don't see the whole Datsyuk thing. Then again, even if he turns out to be a poor mans Datsyuk, it'd be a major win for the Wings

Yeah i agree i don't see any comparison between Datsyuk and Pettersson, Most of the comparison was more in line with Pettersson and Zetterberg more so then with Datsyuk.

I see quite a bit of Datsyuk in Pettersson's game, he brings the same things to his team. So many prospects are compared to Datsyuk and it's highly unlikely they ever reach his level of play but that's a different matter. Min thing that stands out about his game is the awareness he has with and without the puck. Seems like he just has way more time than everyone else when he has the puck and he just covers the ice so well when he doesn't have it.

I don't think Zetterberg is a very good comparison at all. Pettersson doesn't look anything like him on the ice.

No, where did you read those? Is it just b/c hes from Sweden and plays in Timrå?

From when I've seen him, he does remind me of a younger Datsyuk and RNH when he broke through

Is the thought that he will likely stay as a centre?

Whoever picks him will almost certainly try to develop him as a centre. His game right now, in my opinion, is better suited at wing, but as tweeners his age go, he might have a better chance than most at sticking at centre because he's already strong on faceoffs. He averaged over 51 % on five attempts a game against grown men this season.

Excited to watch him play next season and see how he manages to make the next step. Think the team that drafts him wants him on a strict diet ASAP and hopefully he manages to add a lot of weight and strength during the summer.
Could see him scoring 30-40 pts next season if he has a great summer. The skills are there, its just how he'll translate playing against even more physical players.

I'd take him 3rd overall after the usual suspects.

I too am curious about his combine weight. I hope he's at least over 170lbs by now.

The Canucks are flying this kid, and Glass, out to Vancouver for additional interviews next week. Hadn't really heard his name come up in connection with the team before the combine.

I got a feeling they might be interested when they traded for his teammate Dahlén.

Do you have a link for this? Pretty excited if true.

Taking two linemates with good chemistry from Sweden never works out.

Yeah, it's a good sign that the Canucks are flying those two put for more interviews. At least it indicates they're on the right track with this draft.

I hope they ultimately pick Glass though. Any knowledgeable prospect people want to comment on Glass vs Pettersson at pick 5?
