No, it is a Toronto Maple Leafs thing. I know you can’t see that in your media bubble but everyone else in the hockey world can.

Cogliano has had an amazing career. 1200+ games and 450 points with a Stanley cup. Cowan would be esctatic to have a career that spans that long.

C'mon now. This entire forum is fanbases overrating their own prospects. Thats why most prospect threads are unreadable post-draft

What do people see as his NHL comparison? Is there a current NHL player that looks like him?

Not saying there isn’t. I’m trying to think of a high-end comparable and I’m not finding a great one.

Anyone have a better idea than I do?

Stylistically speaking, strictly stylistically as no one knows how Easton will pan out in the future.

I think a really good comparable for him is Jesper Bratt.

The + level skating with the edge work and skating through the neutral zone. In pre-season games Easton was making a lot of NHL platers miss him from a dead stop or instant change in direction. The never ending energy, the playmaking. Easton is looking like a very effective PK'er so they might differ a bit there.

Kinda like this comparison the best so far.

Bratt has been slept on for a long time. Hes a 6th round pick that made the NHL in his D+2 which is insane.

I can definitely see a scenario where Cowan forces his way onto the team next year if he keeps this play up. He already looked great in pre-season and camp, and also plays a more mature game and is strong defensively. Could easily see him finding a role on the 3rd line. After a couple of years, it wouldnt shock me if he started breaking out more offensively like Bratt has over the years, especially if he finds himself playin with Matthews/Marner/Willy.

We might need a thread titled The gap between Connor Bedard and Easton Cowan
Hehe Cowan is doing amazing but of course hes no bedard (or anyone from the top 3 + mitchkov who are all having great rookies seasons either the NHL or KHL)

He looks like hell be ranked 11-30th best prospect in the world after this year (high teens likely).

Kid looks like a steal

Toronto fans are hyping up this prospect and rightfully so. I was one of his biggest fans last season and at the draft and even I didn’t think he’d have as good of a start as he has had. You want to know who I think his prospect curve reminds me of?

Wyatt Johnston.

Dont think anyone really predicted this kind of start to his d+1. Couldn't really be going any better. He's now the guy in London and thriving.

Cowan was awesome last night!
3 points including a nice shorty 4 minutes into the 1st.

Not very flashy but loves to shoot the puck and very good at finding openings and making quick and decisive plays to teammates. Very good motor as well to.
