Wait? People are still acting like he had a bad WJC? Which players on his team outproduced him again?
He wasn't very good in the 2017 WJC. He lived off of getting a boatload of powerplay time and was a relative non-factor in the knockout rounds (2 points 3 games, 1 of which was an empty net assist). I wouldn't say it was bad, but it was absolutely below par for a 3rd overall pick in their D+2.Wait? People are still acting like he had a bad WJC? Which players on his team outproduced him again?
The problem with Strome is this: He currently lacks compete, as was witnessed at the World Juniors as well as his few cups of tea in the NHL. He may have those supposed elite skills, but they may simply be elite junior skills, and nothing else. The kid needs to show that WANTS to be in the NHL, not that he DESERVES to be there. Now, I have not heard anything about attitude issues, so that is a positive thing. If he gets that pro level of urgency into his game, then he could be something. But until then, he's AHL all-star material and nothing much else.
We're discussing a player with 6 career AHL games and 9 career NHL games.

Ahh, imaginary attitude issues. We'll file that one alongside DeBrincat carrying him. Your concern has been noted in our records.
But to be fair, people should understand your opinions. Very recently, you have ranked Strome (and zacha, barzal, Connor, and Crouse) ahead of Mitch Marner. If you say he'll (Strome) be a great player, I'm inclined to lean toward the "he's in serious trouble" side of thingsSome players take more time. Patience with Dylan. I have no doubts Dylan Strome will be a top 6 C for Arizona soon. The guy has produced at every level in hockey.

Please show me where in my post that I said that poster was "factually incorrect". I'll waitSo having one wrong opinion that happened to hurt your feelings means all other opinions will automatically be factually wrong?
I mean I agree with your assessment of Strome, but keep in mind that emotion distracts logic.
Named AHL player of the week.
Funny how the haters in this thread have suddenly become inconspicuous. I bet if he had like 1 point in 6 games, this thread would be upto page 50 by now with page after page of him being declared a bust.
I wonder why he is so hated? Or is it just one fanbase that does this on what I can only surmise as insecurity. Only a matter of time, until he gets called up. I have a feeling this is going to be a fun thread to revisit!Arizona fans are going to be pleased they drafted him. Just a little more patience.
Highly drafted Canadian prospects drafted by non-traditional American markets like Arizona, Carolina, Florida, etc. tend to be hated on here, particularly if they have sub-par WJC performances. Jonathan Huberdeau has the same issue.
I suspect some projecting in your 'suspicions'.It could be this, but I suspect there are other reasons. All I can do is speak for myself, I don't concern myself where a prospect hails from. I liked him in junior, I still recall the 6 point game in his draft year that won him the OHL scoring championship in the final regular season game. He's a guy that has a lot of talent, he may not be the franchise center some expected him to be, But as a 1A or 1B, it is quite within his reach. Which will make him a very valuable player in the future and quite justifiable as the #3OA pick. He was always a raw kid that needed filling out and work on his skating. Which he has improved from my observations. He reminds me of Joe Thornton and how he had to grow into the player he became.
I've only heard one knock on him in this regard and have witnessed one, but they aren't crippling flaws. I've heard (similar to his brothers) is that he works hard, but tends to focus on things he's already good at (Puck control drills, shooting, etc), while not putting that same effort into the things he needs to work on (Skating and off the ice strength training). It is not a crippling flaw and can be overcome. But, it has hindered his development to an extent.Ahh, imaginary attitude issues. We'll file that one alongside DeBrincat carrying him. Any kid who messes up in a high-profile way for team Canada will get bashed regardless of market. For a bunch of people the WJC is their only experience watching these kids. Virtanen probably took the most heat of anyone in recent memory for a bad WJC, he earned it to an extent (the criticism, not being bashed on The Province front page, no teenager should get that for an unpaid tournament volunteering their time to represent their country. Marner took heat for aspects of the 2016 team. It may just seem more extreme because there tend to be less people vocally pushing back for untraditional markets.Highly drafted Canadian prospects drafted by non-traditional American markets like Arizona, Carolina, Florida, etc. tend to be hated on here, particularly if they have sub-par WJC performances.
