C David Goyette - Sudbury Wolves, OHL (2022, 61st, SEA)

Bit of a deep dive on Goyette's game, for those curious:

The Analysis: A deep look at David Goyette's game

While he’s still not even halfway through his first season in the league, Goyette has already proven he belongs in the conversation among the league’s most exciting young players. His overall two-way game and intensity on the puck are still relatively raw, but he is holding his own in a tough, all-situations role for a team that’s going to be overmatched at times against veteran OHL teams.

I agreeu, but Bob Mckenzie put out a ranking 4 days ago and he wasn't in the top 80.

Yeah scouts are really still just figuring these prospects out after a year off for most. Final rankings should be more accurate but because of the unfamiliarity , this could end up being a draft with many steals, Goyette possibly being one of them

Goyette’s ability to generate offence is impressive. 1+2=3 pts tonight. Leads all rookies in the OHL. Unselfish player. His pure speed and effortless skating definitely catches my eyes.

A young Kramer...

I feel so fortunate as a Wolves fan that we were able to draft him 11th overall in 2020 !! Delic in the second round and Konyen 4th round are all steals in the same draft. They’re the only reason I keep watching the games. Goyette is a star in the making. 3 hat tricks already and he’s a pass first guy.

48 points in 47 games leads the Wolves in goals assists and points. And he’s a rookie playing with rookies.

6 goals 8 assists for 14 pts in last 8 games for the rookie. One of the best players in the OHL since January 1st.

I’ll happily eat a large helping of crow about this kid if he keeps this run up. The skating is undeniable and if a team thinks he’s putting everything else together, he’s going in the middle of the first round.

I did a top 10 of draft eligible OHL players since January 1st. Remember they’ve missed a whole year with Covid.

Wright 10+21=31 pts
Goyette 16+14=30 pts
DelBelBelluz 11+17= 28 pts
Delic. 5+19= 24 pts
Haight 14+6= 20 pts
Jelsma 11+9= 20 pts
Konyen 7+12= 19 pts
Beck. 5+12= 17 pts
Buchinger 4+13= 17 pts
Mintyukov 4+12= 16 pts

50th point on a beautiful feed cross ice to Konyen. Leads all rookies in goals and points with 21 goals and 29 assists.

10 game point streak with 7 goals 10 assists. Best streak by an 04 this year in the league. He played against DelBelBelluz and Beck all night and they couldn’t do anything. Him Delic and Konyen know how to find each other in all 3 zones.

After a slow start to the season he has been playing really good hockey.
