ok so their potential is top 5 for a pure offensive talent team is what you guys are saying then... I do agree with that definitely. Potential yes, but are they right now? no

His 42 pts in the playoffs are the most in the CHL since... Yannick Riendeau with 52 pts in the 2009 QMJHL playoffs.

Great company for McDavid.:sarcasm:

Yeah I looked at the top CHL playoff seasons and a lot of those guys were busts.

Not that I think it will happen to McJesus but it's pretty sad company up there overall.

Guys like Yannick Riendeau had their big offensive outburst when they were overagers. It really goes to show how much even relatively mediocre players can score if they are older and stronger than everyone else.

Funnily enough the team that relied on older players ultimately lost. McDavid, Strome, and DeBrincat all haven't had their draft date compared to Nurse, Ritchie, Halverson, DeAngelo, Tolchinsky, etc.

Being on the ice for 5 even strength goals against while McDavid is on the ice over a 6 game series is impressive. Considering Nurse has been averaging over 30 minutes a game and McDavid is on pace to shatter the OHL playoff scoring record, 5 goals against is nothing to complain about..

I'm not complaining about it, just commenting on the idea a lot of people had before the series that he would have a harder time going against Nurse and SSM. Sarnia did a much better job of defending against him.

That's key right there isn't it. Sarnia did a much better job of defending him.

It takes a team effort to shut down a player like McDavid. Nurse was the least of the issues SSM had with McDavid. These two went head to head probably 15-20 times in the series. Nurse came out ahead in probably all but 2 or 3 of them. But one player can only do so much against a player like McDavid at the junior level. Especially on the powerplay where McDavid and Eerie just absolutely ate SSM alive.

Draft eligible performances paints a lot better picture. And right now he's outright #1

42 points in 15 games, that's beyond Crosby good. This guy is a freak, I knew he was good but holy **** he's taken it to a whole new level.

Not much else to say, can't wait to see the greatest since Gretzky/Lemieux put on the orange and blue. :)

I didn't think the Otters could knock out SSM, but McJesus was McJesus x2...unbelievable. I'm looking forward to another McDavid series and hopefully a Memorial Cup appearance! It would be a fitting way to conclude a remarkable season for the best prospect in 30 years.

Over under on 60 points by the end of the OHL playoffs??? Seven games in the Final could do it at his pace (18/7 = 2.60 PPG)

Oshawa and North Bay (especially with how they play in the playoffs) are probably the top 2 defensive teams in the league. McDavid continuing to put up crazy point totals against them would be pretty damn impressive.

No We are saying we have an abundance of talent just need go fill out the roster. Fancy moves and all the skill in the world doesn't mean success. If the NHL was based on fancy skill then we would win the cup

You know what never mind, we've derailed this thread enough and we aren't getting anywhere :)

yup it has gone bizzare and is going nowhere... I agree... needs to get back to whether or not McDavid will be top 50 or not

I was expecting him to have a tough time putting up big numbers against ssm and he did better than 3ppg. If he plays like that then nobody in junior hockey is capable of stopping him.

Ive been hovering this kid for 2 years and even I didn't expect a performance like this in the playoffs, holy ****
