He's very, very good. I want to see how he's going to develop and dominate the OHL in the next 2 years before calling him a generational player.

He'll be a much more complete player than Crosby IMO.

Crosby is the best player in the game. And he is a very complete player. And you are saying McDavid will be a much more complete player? This kid must be something special. Really special.

People keep bringing Crosby into these topics the same way they did during the Tavares hype and look how it turned out.

McDavid was good in his 15 years old season, but it wasn't dominant to the point it should even warrant a comparison with Crosby. Aren't his stats comparable/slightly inferior to Tavares' at the same age?

McDavid has the potential to be the best prospect since Crosby. Asking for anything more than that is dreaming in color until he proves he can dominate to the extent Crosby did, i.e. 135 points in 59 games as a 16 years old... Keep in mind McDavid played at roughly a PPG pace while being only 6 months younger than Crosby in his rookie season, despite his "exceptional status".

Crosby was better at 16 than Mcdavid is I think. That being said, I think Mcdavid has potential to be better than anyone besides Crosby if he keeps on track. It's a lot of pressure, expectation and hype for a young kid to go through but he seems like he has the right attitude. I'm hoping hes something special

McDavid didn't play his 16 years old season yet.

In my opinion, at his level of skill its absolutely amazing. I predict him as a better version of John Tavares. John's problem was he ended up on a team that could never re-group and get better. He didn't have a good winger for him. But he still is very good.

But for Connor he will be an elite top NHL'er no doubt.

Best prospect since Crosby, but then Tavares was the next Lindros at one point...

To early to say but the potential for another Crosby exists.

Tavares is pretty good though, he turned Moulson and Parenteau into NHLers as a young kid. He is gonna get 100 pts a couple of times for sure and will make team Canada as well. Probably will have some playoffs success with the Isles as well. If McDavid can top that, than yes he is ''near'' Crosby level.

In today's NHL, getting 100 pts is a pretty big accomplishment. 100 pts seasons and one or two stanley cups easily gets you into the hall imo....

The Crosby/Tavares thing was always stupid. They were never similar players and they aren't today. Tavares didn't have the skating to be compared to Crosby. Tavares has the hockey sense to be compared to Crosby, but not the skating - McDavid does, and I'd say, at this point, he projects as a more dynamic skater than Crosby. The kid's just lights-out good. He does everything at an elite (or near elite) level.

Bob McKenzie said:
A scout watching McDavid told me that if he was available in this year's draft, that they would select him ahead of Seth Jones, Nate MacKinnon or anybody else. He's got that type of upside and potential.

That's pretty high praise!

To quote Bob MacKenzie, "he's a generational talent".

Will he be better than Crosby?

I think he'll be better than any player playing in the NHL now. If I'm an NHL GM I start hording 2015 first rounders now and hope I get lucky, he's the real deal.

He's obviously a franchise player. Even if he was drafted next year he could be a Calder Candidate IMO.
