He's an excellent prospect deserving of exceptional status but isn't a McDavid-level prospect. Not many in history are, so that's not an insult by any means, and nevertheless I'm sure Bedard is going to be a star for a very long time.
Agreed..nothing in the eye-test (granted in limited viewings) foreshadows the 1.7 ppg !!! that a 24 yrold McD is currently popping off at at the next level . And of course what seperates McD from every single star on the planet is the god -given skating speed the likes of which defenders have never seen....then throw in the elite IQ..puck skills..and fawgetaboutit
I dont see that generational speed in Bedard game just as we didnt see it in a 15 yrold Tavares who put up 1.18ppg to McDavids comparatively modest 1.06 in their respective ES seasons . Tavares was actually 9 months younger than McDavid in their ES seasons which skews even more to Tavares favour...and yet there is no comparaison between the two at the next level. But hey, good on CB for the quick start 6pts in 3 games (3pts on PP) -kid is out of the gate FAST and fun to watch ! Especially given the times we are currently living...
