The kid is filthy....in every aspect.

He's got a Matthews like cannon and release, but then when he feels like it he morphs into an elite playmaker who finds seams that nobody else does. Hockey IQ off the charts.

His playmaking ability was wildly underappreciated by pundits up to the WJC, and I shudder to think what he could do with someone like Guenther or Caufield long-term, someone who can really slam that puck into the net with consistency.

"People are going to suggest the media and scouting community are over-shooting Bedard’s upside by labeling him a “generational talent." It’s not up to me to have people accept his pedigree for what it is. My colleagues on the scouting tour collectively agree he is exactly as described. In fact the majority believe he will have the same impact as Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid."

That's from Jason Bukala in sportsnet recently, high , high praise but not surprising in the slightest

I don't see Bedard losing much with his size but obviously doesn't gain anything in physical terms like McDavid (through his speed) and Crosby (with his lower body strength) do. He obviously has sublime hockey skills and instincts; perhaps moreso than Crosby in an overall sense; and absolutely in a shooting the puck sense. I guess you can argue that his shot is the physical advantage that could separate him from the others.

If he reaches "generational" in the NHL, he will be compared with Wayne; someone who seems lacking in the size department but dominates with all-time great skill and hockey sense. I think he can be a dual threat of the sniper who can score in a millisecond but also an elite playmaker. I think he will have the sense to leverage the attention he gets as a scorer to create plays for others. This is why I think he can reach the generational level; the combo of an all-time great shot with a very high level of hockey sense and playmaking.

Gretzky or bust...

He's got to be the Lebron/Messi of Hockey.

Come in and out produce Mcdavid right off the bat.
No matter which way it goes and I think he will become an NHL superstar the excitement around him is a great thing for hockey.

Too bad he and Michov aren't going to share rookie seasons like Crosby and Ovi did.

I think the rivalry will be just as good or at least hope so.

Man, I live in Calgary, and it just seems like he punishes the hitmen every time he plays them. I mean way more than he punishes every other team.

12 goals 10 assists in 8 career games against Calgary now.

He sure loves playing Swift Current, let me tell you. 17 goals 17 assists in 13 career games.
