Last thread surpassed 1000 posts so It is time for a new one. Bedard is potential generational talent and will go 1st overall in the 2023 NHL draft.

Part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3:

So the Pats will have 2 offensive guys and not much else this season?

But Howe just might be the best of that trio....
Bedard, Howe, and Suz.

I said about a week ago that Suz and Bedard will light it up.

I forgot about Howe was thinking of Benson so yes 3 guys and no Howe will not be the best of the 3, that's just plain stat watching IMO.

Don't get me wrong Howe is a great prospect but Bedard is very close to generational in prospect terms.

In my eyes, Bedard is already up there with the likes (you know who) in terms of pre-draft accomplishments. Hopefully, a super season in the dub will shut certain people up.

Howe will be top 10 in 2024 for sure but not a franchise player.

Exactly.

Top 10 may even be a bit much in my eyes. A lot can change between now and draft day.

Bedard is gonna score about 70 goals this year if he plays with Suzdalev.
Only one player since 2000 has been able to hit the 70 goal mark in the WHL. The legend Jayden Halbgewachs in 2018.

Only one player in the OHL since 2000, John Tavares.

Three players from the QMJHL have, but none have had NHL careers.

If Bedard manages to score 70 and goes to the WJC, that will be a great accomplishment.

I'm aware it's quite rare, but Bedard is the best goal scorer to come out of the WHL in decades.

If he plays 60 games with Suzdalev, 70 goals is definitely in reach. He just dropped 51 in 62 games as a 16 year old without that sort of supporting talent.

The only guy in the last 20+ years to finish over goal/gm was Bjorkstrand when he was 19. Bedard will miss at least what 6 or 7 games at wjc? 70 in 60 at 17 would be some 1980's kind of stats. Even most of those guys didn't do it at 17. I still think he could do it though.

And he had 50 in 69 the year prior as an 18 year old.

Bedard's coming off 51 in 62, and the jump from 16 to 17 tends to be even bigger than 18-19. Add in the extra help he's likely to get from Suz, and I think 1.1-1.2 G/GP is more likely than not.

I agree it'd be crazy for him to do it, and like you say it's just as crazy that he very well could.

Not playing his first pre-season game until Tuesday? Is this correct?

Man, this prospect forum is so much better and easier to navigate when you just ignore every prospect thread for a Russian "prospect"

ya there is no point of playing him much at all this preseason. Let that be for the kids playing for a roster spot... to dress a guy like Bedard much at all would be silly during the preseason
